Chapter 73: Ganging Up on Him

Didn't she realize he would follow her absolutely anywhere, even into the fiery pits of hell if she asked? With a grin, he took her hand and let her lead him upstairs.

"So, I'm curious," she said, glancing back at him. "If you're from Texas, and your parents still live here, why don't you stay with them?"

"They're clear on the other side of the state."

She nodded with understanding. Reaching the top of the stairs, she hesitated as if unsure which way to go.

"Left," he said.

Carissa turned to the left and headed straight for the door at the end of the hall, which was the one and only bedroom. The door at the other end of the hall was the bathroom, and dead center of the hall was a linen closet. Why the cabin was two stories always had baffled him.

"Maybe you should wait out here," she said with a teasing smile.

He tilted his head. "Why?"

"Because I remember what happened last time we were alone in a bedroom." She shrugged. "You can't seem to behave yourself."
