Ulysses found himself suddenly transported to another stark, white room that was similar in construction to the previous ones he had been in, but wider. As he looked around, a voice suddenly spoke up, startling him.
"Welcome, Ulysses," the voice said, and Ulysses couldn't help but feel as if he had heard it before. "To the Trial of Existence."
As soon as the voice had spoken, the figure of the speaker appeared before him, causing Ulysses to jump in surprise. The figure was identical to him in every way, from his short, skinny frame to the cheeky smile on his lips. But there was something about the grin that was a little too cheeky to be his.
Ulysses couldn't help but feel curious and asked, "How much are you like me?"
"I'm you," the fake Ulysses replied impudently, standing just ten paces away. "But I'm better."
Ulysses laughed at the clone's boldness. "I guess that's what every magically engineered clone would say."
