Chapter 63

Chen: Journal

Entry #1

As I reached the age of 6, I opened my eyes at the world's injustices and saw what my existence meant. A being that brings its loved ones grief and suffering. A being that is hated. I decided to cease so that my living does not bring any more harm, but as I planned to do so, I dozed off. In my sleep, I saw you for the first time. A being that brings happiness to those around him. A bright and shining existence. A person opposite of myself. A person I affectionately call Chen.

Entry #2

Shadows cannot exist without light. For the whole world this holds true, but more so for me. As you are the shining light and I am the shadow that cannot exist without you.

Entry #3

In a museum full of paintings revolving around yellow, I thought of you. The color of joy and warmth, I see you. It didn't matter what the artist tried to convey, I just felt a burning pain, for I greatly miss you.
