MY DADDY IS MARRIED!

CHAPTER 17… MY DADDY IS MARRIED!

CEO'S OFFICE…

Marcella dropped the cup of coffee on the table and was about to turn around when Timothy called out to her. She turned to him and stood.

"Marcella, run a search on Just and True law firm." Timothy said without looking up from his laptop screen.

Marcella nodded and left the room. Timothy sighed and leaned in his chair. The thoughts of what made the law firm lay Selena off overflooded him.

Selena maintained that she did not do anything. If she was innocent, why would a law firm as big and powerful as Just and True lay her off? Was it on the grounds of incompetence or was it just a conspiracy?

If Selena was truly innocent, then it must be conspiracy. But then, who would conspire against her? And why?

Timothy was still lost in his train of thoughts when Marcella walked into the room with a piece of paper in her hand.

She handed the paper to Timothy and as he read through it, she explained her findings.

"Sir, it seems like the Just and True firm have been experiencing some kind of unidentified troubles. Their profits from the last year till date have been drastically dropping. It's also very troubling how they have been losing almost every case they handle for the last six months."

Timothy listened with keen interest. It seemed like something was wrong with the firm and he wanted to know what it was.

"Also," Marcella continued. It was clear that she had not finished explaining what she has found out about the firm. "They seem to have been having issues with their workers. Alot if them have either quit or they were laid off.

Timothy nodded.

He asked Marcella to search extensively on the firm and have the results on his table by morning the next day.

He grabbed his phone and made a phone call before picking his keys and leaving the company grounds.

When Timothy arrived at the school compound, school hours were just ending. He thought he would be a filial father and husband and pick his wife and daughter from school today.

Timothy parked his car and came down. He made his way to the classroom when Selena and Bella were. When he arrived there, Selena was trying to help a little girl fix her dress.

Timothy stood by the window and watched her. From the looks of it, something had torn the little girl's cloth and she was crying loudly. Selena was trying to save the day by stitching the dress with a hand needle and thread. Timothy found it an amusing sight and continued to watch.

"There!" Selena said as she stood up and looked at her work. "All done."

The child stopped crying and looked at the torn place that was now I'm stitches. She stopped crying immediately and broke into a smile. She ran towards Selena's and wrapped her hands around her legs.

"Thank you, Miss Scott," the child said happily.

Selena chuckled and ruffled the girl's hair.

"You're welcome, Abbie. Go now, mommy's waiting in the car."

Abbie nodded and grabbed her bag and lunch bag before running out of the classroom.

Timothy stood quietly at the side and waited until the class was empty, leaving only Bella and Selena before he stepped in.

"Quite a way to save the day," he complimented from the doorway.

Bella's head whipped up and she ran into his waiting arms with a happy yell.

Selena did not look too suprise to see him for she had sighted him at the window earlier. She started to gather her things and pick Bella's bag and lunch bag.

"And, what a great way to make an entry." She replied him.

Timothy chuckled and carried Bella in his arms as there left the class with Selena trailing behind them.

As they walked, Selena's phone rang and she stepped aside to pick as it was a call from Rick.

Meanwhile, Timothy and Bella who were waiting in front of the car were approached by a lady. The woman wore a a dirty smile on her face as she came to stand before Timothy.

"Hello," she said. Timothy did not respond but that did not make her leave.

"I'm Cassie. Cassie Denver, a teacher in the grade four class."

Bella looked at the woman and did not say a word. Neither did Timothy. Both of them continued to stare at the woman in silence.

"Uhm- are you looking for something? I can help," Cassie said once more, hoping Timothy would finally reply her.

"Miss Cassie, my daddy is married!" Bella said sternly, marking Selena's territory.

Cassie hid her emotions well and did not let her anger at the child show. She smiled at Bella and said, "Oh, sweetie. I was only checking if I could help your dad,"

Selena who had been watching them from the side finished her call and reached in time to here Bella's response to the teacher.

"Oh, that will not be necessary, Mrs. Denver," Selena replied from behind Cassie. She came to stand by Timothy and tiptoed to place a peck on his lips before turning back to face the grade four teacher.

"My husband was only waiting for me to pick something from the classroom. Thank you but we would be leaving now." Selena said.

Timothy opened the back door for Selena and Bella before entering into the driver's seat. He drove out of the school compound, leaving Cassie standing and gritting her teeth. She had hoped to get Timothy's number but she had failed. What bad luck.

Once they were out of the compound, Bella started to clapp happily. Both Selena and Timothy looked at her in confusion. After her little party, Bella threw her hands around Selena's neck and kissed her cheek lovingly.

Selena smiled, even though she did not know why the child was happy. She wanted to know but she did not ask so that she would not spoil the girl's happiness.

Selena asked Timothy why he had come to pick them by himself.

"I decided I can be a filial husband, a better father, and a triving boss at the same time," Timothy responded with a shrug, leaving Selena speechless.

"Where are we going to, daddy?" Bella asked, kneeling on her seat and looking at Timothy.

"Uhm- I'm going to see my lawyer," Selena quickly informed Timothy.

Few minutes later, Timothy stopped in front of the address Selena had given him. He parked the car and she came out.

Once Inside, Selena gave the marriage certificate to the lawyer and promised to call him and explain things to him. She could not wait as Timothy and Bella were waiting for her in the car.

She returned quickly and Timothy started to drive.

*****

It was almost midnight. Almost everyone in the house had retired to their rooms but Selena continued to toss over in bed.

She could not sleep. Even though she had dinner, she felt as though she was still very hugry. So, she got out of the bed carefully and went to the kitchen.

It was very quiet and empty in the house and this was what Selena wanted. She could cook whatever she wanted to for herself without waking anyone else.

Just when she started to slice the vegetables she would use for her noodles, Selena heard a sound behind her and she turned. She found Timothy standing at the doorway, looking at her in silence.

"Ti- Timothy" Selena stammered. She let the knife drop to the table, knowing she had been caught.

Timothy took one glance at the kitchen and understood. He had wondered why she had been unable to sleep and even more confused when she left the bedroom. He had followed her and was suprised when she entered the kitchen.

"Why didn't you wake up Mrs. Johnson?" Timothy asked, his voice was low and worried.

Selena looked up and said apologetically, "I just wanted a bowl of noodles. Waking her up would not be fair to her."

Timothy nodded and came to stand beside her. He picked up the knife and turned to her.

"How do I slice it?" He asked.

Selena's eyes widened and she asked, "You are not angry at me?"

Timothy shrugged.

"I am hungry."

Selena smiled and showed him how to slice the vegetables. Since Timothy had a very sharp memory, he was able to continue and that gave Selena the time to do other things.

Few minutes later, they had placed two steaming bowls of noodles in the dining table and they sat down to eat.

Timothy savoured the fragrance first, before glancing at Selena who was waiting for him to taste it.

"How does it taste?" Selena asked after Timothy had taken a first spoon.

"You are a very wonderful cook. It is very delicious" Timothy said and Selena smiled in satisfaction and began to eat her own food.

When they finished eating, Selena did the dishes and they went upstairs together. Timothy helped her into bed before lying down beside her.

Selena turned to face him. They continued to stare at each other in silence until Timothy spoke.

"The meal was very delicious. Thank you, Selena,"
