Burnt To Death

Everyone's attention shifted to the man who screamed. He wasn't close to that newbie girl who had fainted, but he couldn't just stand there and wait for her to die!

The guard had already been dragging the girl away by her hair. He didn't even glance back, nor did he give any response. He silently walked toward the open ground as he glanced at the girl briefly.

A cold, sinister smile formed on his lips as he raised his head and said, "She will also have to face the punishment, won't she?"

After saying those words, he tossed the girl's unconscious body to the open ground.

Other players watched in horror as the girl's exposed face and skin started burning and steaming in the extremity of the sun rays. A frown crossed her forehead as she groggily opened her eyes, seemingly in a dazed condition.

Just a moment later, a hint of pain throbbed in her body as horror finally appeared on her face. She immediately got up, and she dashed toward the shade. Just as she was about to enter the corridor, she collided with an invisible force.

She stood there beneath the scorching sun, staring at the corridor in utter terror. Her entire skin had already started to burn as she screamed at the top of her lungs, banging at the invisible wall loudly. Her banging was so strong that even the players inside could feel the vibration.

"Let me go!!!!" The girl screamed as she banged, tears rolling down her cheeks.

But because of the sun rays, the traces of water evaporated as soon as they came out of her eyes. Soon, even tears couldn't come out as she looked like the best example of an extremely dehydrated person.

Her mouth went dry as her body swayed left and right, looking like it would fall any second. By this time, her skin had started to burn terribly. The upper layer of her skin burnt away, revealing the ones on the inside, covered with red and pinkish liquid that seemed to be boiling because of that kind of high temperature.

Her condition seemed to be fragile, but no one could do a single thing about it. They all watched as the girl kept screaming until her voice turned too hoarse to scream. She finally fell to the ground, down on her knees. Her eyelids seemed heavy as she looked like she was about to fall asleep.

Even her eyes seemed to be devoid of any traces of water, looking all dried up. One could even see veins in her eyeballs, bulging huge.

Just when everyone thought the girl was going to die, the guard finally opened his mouth and announced, "Come inside. Two minutes are over."

The guy who had yelled earlier finally rushed forward and dragged the girl inside, but it was still too late. The girl had stopped breathing as her dead body fell to the ground. Thick acrid odor spread in the surrounding area, mixed with a roasted stench.

It seemed as if someone had cooked meat on fire but had forgotten to remove the blood. So even that smell of blood, mucus, and skin mixed up with the burning odor, creating a bitter smell that made everyone dizzy.

Xie Ai frowned as his nose wrinkled. He wanted to go ahead and check the dead body, but he couldn't even move. This was the first time he was seeing something so horrifying. His entire body had frozen to the ground as he stood in the middle of the corridor, hugging his arms to reduce the rising goosebumps.

Then he saw the duo walking toward the dead body without changing any expression on their faces. They looked like they were checking out an ordinary body, not the burnt one lying on the ground.

Yu Weimin frowned as he shook his head. He looked at his lover as the two nodded. "Let's go."

Xie Ai glanced at the body and finally turned back, not wanting to check it anymore. Since Yu Weimin had already done the deed, why should he torture himself like this? He could just sit back and let the duo rise to the top.

The three people entered their room as Yu Weimin turned and said, "Let's talk about the evidence we have."

Qi Jingguo raised his hand as he seriously started counting the evidence since last night. "The lady died because of torture and extreme fright. She was basically beaten and starved to death, and her body seemed to be lying for days, but… the thing is, she had only entered the room with everyone else just a few hours before sleeping.

"We can consider the dimensional possibility here," Qi Jingguo concluded as he walked over, draping his arm over his lover's shoulder and leaning against the man's body. "Second, we have a time limit, which is extremely short, especially for newcomers like you."

He paused as his eyes filled with a hint of sympathy. "This is your bad luck to encounter such a difficult world in your first turn."

Xie Ai was silent for a moment as he asked, "The guard said… the timing will be doubled… right?"

Yu Weimin nodded, still not changing his expression. "That's right." He suddenly thought about something and asked, "Xie Ai, that ghost child you talked about…. Will he arrive again tonight?"

When Xie Ai thought of those emerald green eyes and the same pale face, his heart felt two mixed-up emotions. First, his heart jumped up in excitement as if he were going to see some lover. Second, he also felt traces of fear laced into his heart, making him tremble from head to toe.

Xie Ai bit his lips as he shook his head. "I have no idea."

None of the duo said anything as Yu Weimin walked outside the room with Qi Jingguo tagging behind him. "Let's go check this place first."

Xie Ai nodded as the trio strolled through the corridor.
