A Gust Of Wind

The two of them stared at one another for a good while before Xie Ai saw the ghost tilting his head innocently, asking, "I don't remember."

Xie Ai's eyebrows furrowed.

What's going on? Why did the kid refuse to remember anything?

Suddenly, the kid's eyes widened as he trembled in his embrace. Xie Ai was stunned as his hands automatically went toward the kid, hugging his back.

At this time, all he could see was a little Yu Chen trembling in fear. His heart sank to the bottom of the darkest ocean as he gently patted the little kid's back. "There, there. You're good."

"No, I have to go!" The kid no longer waited and vanished out of the blue.

His disappearance was so unexpected that Xie Ai couldn't reach for a moment as he stared at the empty place beside him. His brows furrowed further.

It seems he couldn't find out anything about the kid tonight. A sigh escaped his lips as he lay on the bed, closing his eyes. Even he didn't know when his consciousness drifted off into deep sleep.

When the next morning arrived, Xie Ai had just woken up when the sound of footsteps echoed into the corridor. He walked over and opened the door as the voices of others drifted to his ears.

"There's a dead body again."

"F*ck…. Will they make us stand under the sun again?"

"No! I want to die already!"

Xie Ai squinted his eyes to look carefully, trying to scan the group of people. But his eyesight really did make him useless. He couldn't see a thing clearly, only looking at blurred people and colors everywhere.

He finally sighed and decided to see what was going on. He glanced back at the top bunk, making sure it was indeed empty. Then he proceeded toward the place where more people were gathered.

At this time, a man died as brutally as earlier. His entire body was sucked dry, and his face looked more like he had been stared at for days, locked up, and beaten with a whip. A rotten stench mixed with blood permeated the air.

Xie Ai covered up his nose and frowned, walking onward.

There, the duo were already checking up on the dead body without even bothering to cover their noses. Really, there should be a round of applause for them being so bold. They didn't even feel anything upon smelling such a terrible odor.

He walked forward; the more he walked, the deeper the stench became, making it difficult for him to even breathe. When he went closer, he even felt dizzy because of the odor around him.

But he stubbornly walked over and stood beside them, asking, "Anything different?"

Yu Weimin's face wasn't good at this time as he said, "Here. Aren't these familiar?"

Xie Ai looked over and saw a small, five-year-old child's handprints on the torn shirt that the dead body was wearing. His eyes widened as his entire body trembled. He even stumbled back.

Last night…

Could this print mean that the kid also came here? Then…. Could it be that the little kid was involved in the killings?

When he thought of a certain teenager with a dark aura around his body, his face turned pale.

It was indeed possible.

Qi Jingguo patted his shoulder and said, "Go back to your room. We'll discuss shortly."

Xie Ai woke up from his dazed condition as he nodded.

Maybe he would have to tell them everything, even his suspicion of that kid being Yu Chen.

In any case, Yu Weimin had already seen that kid. So he would also have the same doubt in his heart.

It was useless to try to confirm it himself. As he raised his head, the other nodded as if agreeing with his lover.

Xie Ai sighed and walked out of the room. But before they could get another chance, the guards walked over from the other side. Only now did Xie Ai look over at the environment outside.

Unlike yesterday, the sunlight wasn't as strong, but there were clouds drifting in the sky, giving it a cold and gloomy look. It seemed that the clouds would create rain in an instant, but they didn't seem to move.

The scene outside seemed to have frozen like that, with no intention to move. Just then, a cold gust of wind passed through the guards. A slim sound of something cutting through the skin also entered Xie Ai's ears, making him frown.

The closer the guards came as they entered the corridor, the clearer it was to Xie Ai that something was immensely wrong. He stared at her, squinting his eyes to try and look, but all he could see were traces of redness mixed into the skin color.

Red? Blood?

Why would the guards be injured….?

Unless…

Xie Ai's heart sank as he looked outside. The soft gust of wind didn't enter the building.

There must be something wrong with the wind!

The guards didn't have to look at the room to know what had happened. The one at the front seemed to be their leader as he squinted his eyes and glanced about the corridor. Everyone held their breaths as they stared at the guards in front of them. Several of them were even trembling.

What kind of punishment would they get now?

Just as they were thinking, the leader of the guards spoke up. "I see, you have committed another crime. As discussed, your punishment will be doubled. Stand outside for half an hour."

"How is it doubled?!" One of the players couldn't take it anymore. "And what evidence do you have that we killed them? You guys are clearly just making trouble, nothing else!"

The guard at the front, only looking at the guy who spoke just now, said, "You'll stand there for one hour."

After that, not a single person dared to utter a single word.

Xie Ai's steps were frozen at the moment as he stared at the open ground outside.

It didn't seem like there was anything wrong with it, but he knew that it wasn't going to be as peaceful. He gritted his teeth and took a few steps back, bumping directly into someone.

He turned back to find the duo standing behind him as a knife was silently handed to him. He looked up at Yu Weimin first and then at Qi Jingguo, not understanding what it was for.

Yu Weimin offered a short explanation. "Just keep holding it. It's no ordinary knife."
