Breaking The Curse

The burnt female suddenly laughed in a hoarse voice as she stared coldly at the white-haired young man with a hint of coldness floating in her eyes. She finally opened her mouth and said, "What's so shocking in this? Of course, I have to be alive to make sure the curse isn't breaking."

Yu Weimin's eyes narrowed. "Does that mean your curse can only be broken if we kill you?"

"You can try. Do you dare?" The lady chuckled again. "If I die, you may never know how to break the curse. After all, it's created out of the thick resentment of millions of dead humans buried right beneath this building, and that little kid right there is responsible for the mess!"

The lady pointed to the space right beside Xie Ai.

The latter turned his head and glanced down beside him. He couldn't see anything, but he knew that little Yu Chen was standing there. At the same time, the little boy in the Ghost form was also staring at the man and suddenly smiled. "Big brother can see me!"

Why did he say this? Because at this time the two's eyes were met but they were separated by a layer of dimension.

The lady scoffed. "This scene sickens me. Why don't we have some fun?" She turned to the red-eyed young man and grinned.

When she grinned, her burned-down mouth also stretched and showed her ugly insides. Even a glance was enough to make anyone puke his guts out.

But Yu Weimin wasn't just any person. He stared at the lady and asked, "What kind of fun do you want?"

"If you kill that white-haired guy over there, I can tell you a secret about how to break the curse." The lady licked her lips with burned down tongue and said, "Say, let's make a deal, yeah?"

Xie Ai scoffed when he heard that. He knew for sure that despite everything, they really won't kill him. Even then, his back was covered with a layer of cold sweat. After all, Yu Weimin was known for his ruthlessness and indifference to ordinary things.

Sure enough, the man's red eyes narrowed as he asked, "Are you speaking the truth?"

Xie Ai choked up on his saliva as he chuckled nervously. "Yu Weimin… Bro…. You don't have to kill me, do you?"

Yu Weimin ignored him and continued to stare at the lady, whose eyes filled with a trace of joy, and she nodded. "Of course! You have my word."

"You… you aren't serious, are you?" Xie Ai was afraid now because the two Gods pressing the burny lady to the ground continued to ignore him as if he weren't there.

The more he was ignored, the more frightened he became. Suddenly he felt something cold touching his hands as he glanced beside him.

At this time, the child's emerald eyes stared at the man with red eyes and the kid smiled. "Don't worry big brother. He won't kill you."

If Xie Ai could hear those words, he would surely comment—no wonder you guys are brothers. You can tell what he's going to do even when amnesiac.

Unfortunately, Xie Ai couldn't listen, but he felt a hint of soothe when he felt that cold touch. His fear disappeared as he stared at the blank space for a while and then turned toward the lady, frowning.

Why did he feel like the lady was stalling for time? Talking so much?

Villains usually talk too much for two reasons—one was to show off while pressing on the protagonist and the second was to stall the time.

This lady didn't look like someone who was afraid and was just trying to show off her last bit of self-respect. Rather….

Xie Ai's eyes widened as he spoke quickly, "Kill her!"

Yu Weimin's eyes flashed with a hint of coldness as he said, "I was going to."

He quickly used his sword and thrust into her heart, seeing her eyes widen.

The lady screamed as blackish blood gushed out from the corner of her mouth. "How…." Cough… cough….. "How did you do it?! No, this is impossible! I can't die unless the curse breaks! No….. it means the curse has broken?"

Qi Jingguo scoffed and finally opened his mouth to explain, "If we hadn't found the hidden floor beneath this, we wouldn't have been able to find out how to break the curse. And let me guess, killing you is the finishing touch to make sure the curse won't be in effect anymore, right?"

The lady's eyes widened as she choked up on her blood. For a while, her eyes kept staring at them in horror, but the traces of life slowly disappeared from them, making the two eyeballs look darker than the abyss.

Xie Ai released the breath he was holding. "So you guys broke the curse ?"

"Nope."

"We tricked her into dying. You see, the sword in Xiao Min's hands? That's a weapon that can break any curse. Very important, but also very costly." Qj Jingguo sneered, crossing his arms on his chest. "Plus, she was irritating me."

"So…." Xie Ai frowned. "The curse still hasn't broken, right?"

The duo looked at one another and refused to say another word, only Qi Jingguo hesitantly nodded.

Xie Ai was confused now as he looked at the two of them in confusion. "Why aren't you telling me….?"

Yu Weimin hesitated but he said nothing, pursing his lips. Qi Jingguo also sighed and shook his head. "You won't be able to take it."

Xie Ai suddenly realized something as his body trembled a little. "Is this…. Is this related to Yu Chen?"

The little invisible kid also looked at the couple and tilted his head. "I can save him? Tell me, how!"

Yu Weimin briefly glanced at the space beside Xie Ai and averted his eyes. He finally said, "The lady put a vicious curse on this kingdom. It's not so difficult to assume what kind of story it is.

"First, the little boy was attached to the righteous path, always remaining in the shrine at a young age. His mother got frustrated and did something, probably a controlling kind of magic or hypnotism on him, dragging the little boy forcibly on the darker path.

"She might have made her son too inhumane on the way. As he grew up, he massacred every city or town that went against his decision or even raised their voices. He was another Hitler, and his mother had instilled those thoughts in her son.

"So he grew up to be a ruthless king. And then appears our burnt lady. She was probably one of the victims, and when she came to seek justice, she was punished, but they still ruthlessly let her have her last breath.

"So as she turned toward dark magic, she instilled a curse in the kingdom, burning everything up overnight and trapping the souls of everyone here, forcing them to repeat the killings every single night. She was particularly harsh on the king."

Xie Ai frowned and asked, "So…. What's the method to destroy the curse?"

Qi Jingguo sighed. "It can only be broken by the king himself."

Xie Ai's face paled upon hearing that. He knew for sure this time that if little Yu Chen used his power, he would disappear forever.

His heart sank deeper and deeper as he stared at the duo in disbelief.
