A Broken House

They walked and stood at the entrance of the village, glancing at the empty shops and roads. Not even the houses seemed to be full of people, looking empty and deserted. The three of them stood there, staring at the scene with narrowed eyes.

Yu Weimin broke the silence first. "Let's go check out the house."

"No!" Xie Ai protested, shaking his head. "Didn't Yu Chen warn us about approaching the village chief?"

"We won't confront him directly." Yu Weimin reassured, his voice tinged with impatience. He led the way toward the forest, urging the others to follow.

Sensing that emotion, Xie Ai shut his mouth and simply followed.

On the way, they took their time checking the houses and found them empty. So where did those villagers come from back then, and where did they go?

No one had the answer. Something had probably happened here.
