Chapter Fifteen: A Son For A Son.

Country A, Mainland.

11pm.

< Ivanov Residence >

The crashing sound of glass against the tiled floor, alerted the attention of everyone that had been asleep tonight.

But except for one person who has been awake this whole time, Jason Ivanov. Father of Adrik and Vanessa Ivanov. He's a world renowned billionaire across the country, and unfortunately the biggest enemy, and rival of Alex Singh.

Being haunted with the death of his son being his fault, and pinning the blame on himself didn't help change anything for the past five years.

Rather, it made him much more confident about his revenge against the Singh family coming to light, he had been so engrossed in work for the past years, and failed to see the turmoil Adrik's death had left on his family.

Especially his wife, Marilyn. Just as he heard the crash a few moments ago, he didn't need anyone to tell him that something was wrong, and it had to do with his wife.

He dashed out of his office to meet the curious stares of the maids, and some of his few men who knew that Marilyn was up to one of her late night sessions again.

They all got scared at the sight of him, and literally jumped when they heard his voice shouting at particularly nobody.

"Get out!" He yelled, watching everyone dash out, while scared of their life before his second in command, walked up to him with a frown on his face.

"Why isn't she asleep?" He demanded, brushing his hair back backwards, before looking back at Miguel for an answer.

These past few years didn't measure up quite well with his wife, unlike him who was a man and has been coping with his pain, by indulging himself in work matters.

It was different with her, Marilyn changed into a different person. Everything in her died, while she watched their son being hauled into the hospital, dead with nothing to help with his situation.

She wakes up in the middle of the night, and cries till the next morning. She stopped eating, infact, she felt lost and stopped acting like any normal human would do.

While he blamed himself day in, day out for his incapability to protect their son, it was all his fault that he couldn't allow their son to do what he wanted.

He could still vividly remember how he had taken to the news of him, eloping with the daughter of his enemy, Polina Singh, daughter of the man who he's going to put six feets on the ground soon.

If it was up to him, he would have allowed his son to follow his heart, but for the fact that Alex Singh, a heartless idiot didn't give any space for that, he acted upon his instincts and drew the line by firing that gun at his own child.

Adrik was loved by everyone, but he was spoiled and loved more by his mother, considering the circumstances that surrounded his birth.

"I'm..sorry sir, I didn't know she didn't take her .. medicine" The scared, little voice of the maid in charge of her chambers broke through his thoughts.

"Shut up,"He said annoyingly, before looking over to the tray she carried in her hands. It contained her medicine, and an injection that could have helped her sleep.

"Miguel" He called for him, as he took the tray from the shivering hands of the maid, who scattered away in fear before he slowly approached his son's room.

It's been years since he last came in here, no! He couldn't come in here, because the huge portrait of Adrik hanging right infront of him, was a big torture to him.

It was like looking right into his eyes, his eyes that were pleading for nothing  but for revenge, for an incompetent father to avenge his son's death.

He had tried to aid himself, by getting rid of his pictures that were filled up around every part of the mansion, just for his sanity and also for his wife.

But Marilyn wasn't taking it lightly, in a  week she had fired fifty servant's that had tried to tamper with anything that belonged to Adrik.

They both had a quarrel, which she had blamed him for trying to get of her son. She wasn't taking anything lightly from anyone, even from him and had promised him to kill herself if he tampered with anything in Adrik's son.

She doesn't believe that he's dead, everything was just like it was while he was still alive in his room. Even when it comes to some point, where she admitted that he's dead by burning expensive offerings for him, Adrik Ivanov was still alive to Marilyn Ivanov.

Which left him with no option than to let her do anything she wanted, he loved his wife and he wouldn't want to lose her too.

He watched her back shuddering from how hard she's crying, while she sat on the chair clutching a frame of their son to her heart.

He turned to Miguel, who hid behind the door. He gave him a signal which he all too knew the meaning behind. He can't let himself be seen by Marilyn.

She would freak out once she found him holding that injection, Jason took the injection and hid it at the back of his trouser, before turning to his wife.

"Huni, It's too late to be here" He said, taking careful steps up to her before standing beside her, while she paid no homage to his presence here.

"My baby, they killed my baby" She did nothing but cry, which made him sigh tiredly before taking the frame from her hand forcefully.

"Stop it already Marilyn. Adrik is dead, and nothing is ever going to make him come back." He said, getting fed up with her tantrums every single day.

She turned frantically to face him, when he said that. She looked at him indifferently, like she was trying to deny what he said.

"No, I see him, Jason. He's alive."She denied, standing up and checking out his room for what he didn't know. " I can see him, Jason, and you can too. You only need to…"

Her statement was cut short by an angry looking Jason, who dragged her by her arm bringing her up to his front.

"Stop making everyone believe you have gone mad Marilyn. That wouldn't be good for Vanessa, she's coming back tomorrow, and we can't have her  thinking that her mother is crazy." He explained, before pulling her in for a hug.

"So please, I beg of you, stop it already. Adrik is dead huni." He pleaded, with his voice down.

"They killed him," She repeated, grabbing Jason's arms." They killed my son Jason"

"I know, baby, and i would get them for that. I would make them pay for doing that."He promised, and he intended on fulfilling that, but he was surprised by her actions when she pushed him aside.

"No, I don't want that. I want Adrik back, he's here…" Marilyn went on, and started pointing at a certain figure which Jason didn't see anyone, but a wall.

But unfortunately, all these while he didn't believe that his wife was crazy, Marilyn was right about her claims, Adrik was right there watching his mother, with hurt written all over him.

He watched as his mother was trying all she could to convince his dad that he was here, but as if she succeeded that would make him visible to him too.

No! He wasn't ready to face his dad, yet.

Mr. Ivanov sighed tiredly, and left with no other choice he brought out the injection and approached his wife, who was smiling at a wall.

He grabbed her, and injected the drugs right into her neck as she struggled against him.

"Let me go Jason, my baby is here!" She cried, struggling against his arms while he held her but after some seconds, she was out.

He crawled her into his arms and walked out of Adrik's room, before turning to Vanessa. "This is to be kept a secret from Vanessa, she doesn't need to know what's going on with her mother."

"Yes boss" Miguel said, before he carried a sleeping Marilyn into her room. He placed her on her bed, and sat down beside her.

If he said he wasn't tired, then he must be the biggest liar in the world. He wanted his woman back, but Adrik took a part of her that he didn't know when she would be returning soon.

There's nothing he hasn't done to get her back to normal, coupled with the anger that the man who was the cause of his pain was still alive, made it more antagonizing.

He will make Alex Singh pay for what he had done, as usual he knew how it was in their world. He hurt his family, but so did he did to his daughter. But Alex was the first to pull the trigger.

So, it doesn't end there. An eye for an eye. A son for a son. He will pay him back with the same treatment eventually.
