A bigger threat

"MOVE!!" both Amelia and Christian shouted at the same time, but it was too late as red-hot laser beams slammed into the stout soldier, sending him into the air with smoke trailing along his path.

The others responded by opening fire. The continuous fire went on for minutes, causing Amelia to let out an exasperated sigh. "I can't put up with this," she mused and dashed toward the door. Her speed made her seem like a flicker to those who weren't concentrating. She grabbed two pulse grenades and threw them into the circular opening.

Christian couldn't even react when a loud boom echoed along with smoke coming out from the door.

"Really," Christian turned to Angel and said, both his brows raised. Though Amelia could not see his expression, she could guess it. "What? If I had not acted, we would have been stranded here and they would have called reinforcements. They were just buying time and you know that."
