Natasha had a deep respect for Derek, and his reaction went against her plans to actually befriend him.

His coldness wasn't surprising, but she never expected him to be this direct, fierce, and quite aggressive.

Many would clamor to gain their allegiance, as it would greatly empower them, but he didn't even bat an eyelid, going as far as saying that they might leave.

This was the peak of my confidence. If Derek could create the mutants, now that his constitution was much stronger and he had figured out a great part of his system, he could build something stronger.

His confidence stemmed from the faith he had in himself.

Derek got to his feet. "Till we meet," he concluded, ignoring Natasha's gaze and walking toward the door.

Suddenly, he paused at the door and heard Natasha exhale audibly. Turning, he saw her eyes glued to his, a plea for him to be patient lying within.

"Something's wrong," he muttered, sensing a spike of energy.
