Savannah's Birthday...

April 1995...

A week after the special week was Savannah's birthday. Amanda saved up the money she'd gained from the fair and planned on using it to throw a party for Savannah.

Savannah was going to be turning 3 and this would be the first party their throwing after Daniel's death.

For the party, Savannah bought a few ingredients to bake a cake and bought new clothes for Savannah and Adam .

The day before Savannah's birthday, Amanda took a day off and decided to plan the party before the kids came home from school.

She'd already bought the ingredients to bake the cake the day before so she decided to bake a strawberry and vanilla cake, since it was Savannah's favorite.

She brought out all the ingredients to bake the cake from the cabinet in the kitchen and decided to start baking.

After mixing up the ingredients for both layers of the cake, she carefully placed them in the oven and sets the timer.

While the cake was baking in the oven, Amanda decided to start decorating the house. She brought out the balloons and banners she bought earlier and placed them all around the house, matching the theme of the party.

Though no one was going to attend the party, Amanda still wanted this day to be special for, Savannah, Adam and herself. After decorating the living room with beautifully colored balloons and banners, Amanda went to the kitchen to check on the cake. Since the cake wasn't ready yet, she decided to start preparing the food the children will eat when they got back.

She brought out the pot from the cabinet and some potatoes, poured water into the pot and waited for it to boil while still checking the oven for the cake.

Once the water boiled, Savannah put the potatoes in the water, before going to check the oven for her cake.

Luckily, the cake was ready so Amanda brought them out of the oven and left them to cool for a while while she made the frosting.

She decided on using a white and pink frosting to decorate the cake.

After making the frosting and applying it on the cake, she let it stay out for a while before putting it in the freezer.

She then went straight to cooking her mashed potatoes before the kids come back.

After like thirty minutes of cooking the mashed potatoes, she checked the time and gasped in shock, it would soon be time for the kids to get back and she wasn't done with the arrangements.

She decided to pack up the food and get their clothes ready for them.

After laying the clothes on the bed for them, Amanda took her purse and keys and rushed out the door.

She opened the car door and started it, before making her way to their school.

Amanda arrived at their school minutes later and saw them swinging in the playground, though they didn't see her, it seemed as though they were as excited as her to celebrate the birthday.

Amanda knocked on the gate and the security guard opened the door for her, she walked into the playground and both Savannah and Adam rushed to her once they saw her.

" How have the two of you been?", Amanda said as she lifted Savannah and carried her in her arms.

The three of them went to the car and made their way home.

Amanda opened the door and turned on the lights to the living room and carefully put Savannah down on the couch.

" Okay, so the two of you should change your clothes and get ready for dinner". Amanda said as the two of them hurried to their room.

While the kids were in their room, Amanda got the dinning table ready for dinner.

After a few minutes, Savannah and Adam walked out of their room fully dressed and were ready for dinner. Amanda served the mashed potatoes and the three of them began to eat.

Almost an hour later, the dinning table was cleared and Amanda was washing the dishes while the kids got ready for bed, it didn't take long for Amanda to finish washing the dishes and turned of the lights before tucking the kids into bed and going to sleep.

....

The next morning, Savannah woke up earlier than usual and looked at her alarm clock. It was still dark outside so Amanda got ready and made breakfast before the kids woke up. Since it was a weekend, the kids weren't going to school and will be celebrating Savannah's birthday at home.

Since it was too early for the birthday to be celebrated, Amanda got the new clothes she bought for them the day before and lays them on their beds.

A while before the kids woke up, Amanda prepared a surprise for them. As soon as they woke up, Amanda poured some confetti on Savannah and gave her a birthday card.

" Thank you so much mummy". Savannah squealed as she jumped up and hugged Amanda. The three of them then gave each other a tight hug.

" Okay, so the two of you should get dressed in the clothes I left out for you and come to the dinning table for breakfast ". Amanda said before each giving them a peck on the cheek and leaving the room.

A while after Amanda left the room, both Savannah and Adam stepped out of the room in the cloths Amanda bought for them. Adam wore a white shirt with a black blazer and trousers with a blue bow tie while Savannah wore a purple off shoulder knee length dress . The both of them looked amazing in their outfits.

Amanda served the both of them their breakfast and the three of them ate the food like a happy family.

By 12 noon, Amanda brought out the cake from the freezer and kept it in the dinning table before rushing to her room to get ready. She wore a navy blue knee length dress and packed her hair up in a bun and smiled at her reflection. " Today is your daughters special day", Amanda said to herself before leaving the room.

Amanda lit the candle and sang a 'happy birthday' for Savannah before Savannah blew the candle and made a wish.

The three of them then took a few pictures before Amanda cut the cake and gave each of them a slice.

" Here you go", Amanda said before sitting back down .

" Wow mum, the cake is delicious, did you bake it ?", Adam said with a chunk of cake in his mouth.

" Swallow the food in your mouth first before speaking, and yeah, I did, you like it?".

"It tastes amazing. This is the best birthday I've ever had". Savannah said before taking another bite of the cake.

...

That night, Amanda stayed up, thinking. She couldn't forget the words Savannah said during her birthday, ' This is the best birthday I've ever had'. Amanda loved the fact that Savannah enjoyed this day and maybe she'd even be able to make it better next time...
