Hurt Me

It was now a staring contest between me, Leo, and the mistress. After Ray had harshly shut the door in my face, I saw Leo who showed me the way to the dining room.

But again, she just had to be there, seated like a queen and looking so beautiful and seductive. At a moment I had to look down at my body and compare the difference. Surely, if I were a male and I had to choose between me and her, I would go for her.

I said nothing to her and simply went to take a random spot on the long dining table but I could still feel her piercing gaze on me. I knew she was about to say something but didn't know how.

" I'm sorry for taking Dav away from you last night." She opened her mouth to say something annoying but I was not going to rage in the public.

I knew that she had planned to make me jealous and angry but I decided to act my age by remaining mute.

" You know, Dav and I have known each other before you were born. I'm sorry if he has more feelings for me than for you," she said.

Of course, she wasn't wrong, from the little I had seen in Dav, he still had feelings for his mistress.

Angered by what she said, Leo used his fist to bang the table….hard! Though, I had expected him to act that way since I'd noticed the aura he had emitted as she said those words but I needed no one to stand for me.

This was my fight and I planned to do it alone, there's no way I would be in an argument with this lady because of Dav.

" What are you up to Beatrice, haven't you realized that no one wants you here?" Leo said with gritted teeth.

I turned my gaze over to the female. Of course, Leo's words and intimidating aura wouldn't have scared her especially when she was more than acquainted with Dav, Leo wouldn't dare lay a finger on her.

On her face, was a smile she had used to mock Leo. Anyone who had seen her with that smile would have easily figured out the message she had tried to pass across.

But before Leo could react to her behavior, Ray and Dav walked into the dining room with a frown on their faces. Well, Ray hardly smiled so I had no question for him but I was a little curious about what must have made Dav have a worried look.

Mother had always said, never put your hopes up on anything or anyone and I think I realized why she gave that weird advice. I had expected Dav to come to sit with me since I was his wife and had sat far away from Leo and Beatrice but to my dismay, Dav, without a second thought, sat beside his mistress.

My heart sank and I didn't bother to hide it. Leo and Ray looked over in my direction in anticipation that there would be a kind of reaction from me but again, I chose to act my age.

Meanwhile, Dav didn't bother to spare me a glimpse as he focused his gaze on the table. At that point, I felt like a fool for consoling him earlier. He was not a monster because of his looks but he was a monster because of what he had done to my heart.

" May I?" Ray's voice suddenly snapped me out of my thoughts. At first, I didn't understand what he meant by those words but when he moved the chair beside me, I realized that he wanted to sit beside me.

" Yes of course," I said.

Dav finally raised his head and he didn't seem pleased by what he had seen. Of course, he didn't fail to hide how displeased he was.

Finally, the maids came into the picture with a trolley of food and three bottles of what I had assumed was wine.

Silently, they started dishing out the food but I realized that mine was different from theirs. There, a large portion of different meals that my parents wouldn't dare to serve me was presented before me but when I looked over at the vampires in the room, they were only given small pieces of cooked meat and a large quantity of the wine I saw with the maids.

" My cup of blood does not look fresh, pour me another one." Beatrice blurted out to one of the maids who immediately did as instructed.

I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Did she just say blood? That explained the red color of the wine and why it looked strange and for some reason, I was very certain that it was human blood.

I turned my gaze over to the never smiling statue that had offered to sit beside me. He showed no emotions in his eyes as he stared at what the maids had offered him. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that he only chose to eat it because he needed it to be alive.

Noticing my fixed gaze on him, he also turned to look at me.

" Princess Eliza, aren't you going to eat?" He asked with a straight face.

I turned my gaze over to Dav. He also seemed to have wanted to know why I had not started to eat but I immediately removed my gaze from him and directed it to his mistress. I could see the jealousy in her eyes, it seemed that Dav, whose gaze was still directed at me, had pretended not to notice her.

" Yes wife, eat, I heard humans are so much into meals like that."

I bit my lips, how could I put anything in my mouth when two pairs of black eyes and a pair of blue eyes wouldn't remove their gaze from me?

I sighed, I slowly took a spoonful of the meal and placed it into my mouth and that was all it took for them to divert their gaze somewhere else.

The setting became awkwardly silent as the sounds of utensils kissing the plate filled the room. Ray would once in a while steal a glimpse of me while the mistress wouldn't remove her gaze away from Dav, who seemed to have been lost in thoughts.

There, after Ray had taken his last glimpse of me, he turned his gaze to Dav and formed a mischievous smirk on his face.

" When do you plan on moving to the castle, Prince, now that you have a wife, the people are expecting you to move into the castle with her." Ray blurted out.
