A week flew by in a blur and before Amber knew it, it was the day of her wedding.
During the week that just passed, Amber kept her curiosity to herself and didn't bother about the hole in the wall anymore. She even stopped hearing the strange sounds that were coming from the other side. It was as if everything that happened had been her imagination. Even the hole had mysteriously disappeared. Not wanting to dig up trouble with her own hands, she didn't ask Draco about it.
She saw less of Draco. It seemed after that day in their room, he swore to keep his distance away from her. Amber didn't like the distance between them. She found herself standing at the terrace in the room, eyes locked on the road to see if she could catch a glimpse of him.
She hated to admit it, but she missed him. Even with his cold attitude and arrogant nature, she missed the way he would stare at her with desire, or the way he would smile flirtatiously, his lips pulled back with laughter. She missed the little arguments they would sometimes have, especially when she disobeyed his orders. He always spoke about punishing her if she kept defying him, but she knew he would never really punish her.
Slowly, without knowing it, she was falling for him.
The door was yanked open and Amber snapped back to the present. She was inside a different room, wearing only her undergarments. Her hair had been styled beautifully. A high bun held atop her head with a silver tiara. Wispy tendrils brushed the sides of her face.
She was on makeup, for the very time in her life. She never used makeup because her father never bought them for her. He always said she was beautiful without them.
Now she stared into the mirror, gazing at the gorgeous woman who was staring back at her. She didn't believe makeup could make her look so beautiful.
At a corner of the room was her wedding dress, placed on a dummy and kept safe within a glass compartment. The dress was exquisite, the finest of silk. It had a tight bodice, decorated with silver stones and pearls. The dress flared out elegantly, with a long train behind it. White rose flowers dotted the entire length of the gown, making it look utterly beautiful.
Beside the dress was a satin veil, a bouquet of fresh white roses, and a pair of silver three inch heels. Amber knew she would have a bad headache if she decided to find out how much her wedding dress cost. Knowing how Draco was, she knew it would be extravagant.
"Amber darling, you look so beautiful",Wendy complimented as she hurried into the room. The woman was dressed in a white gown, but more moderate than the wedding dress Amber would wear. Draco had chosen her as the maid of honor.
"Thank you Wendy",Amber smiled, then asked worriedly. "Is it time yet?"
"It would be in thirty minutes",Wendy said and lowered herself on the bed.
"I'm so nervous",Amber whispered.
"It's okay to be nervous on your wedding day", Wendy said with a smile. "But there is one thing I'm sure of. Draco did the right thing by agreeing to marry you. Lord knows that man needs a woman to calm his wild ways"
"You must be very close to him",Amber smiled.
"I've known him since he was a little boy",Wendy said, which was actually true. Despite the creatures they were, she had been there when Draco's mother laboured to bring him into the world. So many years had passed.
Not wanting to delve into past memories, Amber changed the subject. "Master Draco may not show it, but I see the look in his eyes when he stares at you"
Amber didn't bother arguing with Wendy. She had to be blind because Draco clearly didn't want love. He only married her because she was used in exchange to pay her father's debt. She wouldn't be fooled by Wendy's words.
"Where's Draco?",she asked.
"He's at the grand hall, welcoming the guest", Wendy informed her. "A lot of the high class women wanted to come in here and have a glimpse of you, but Master Draco forbade it"
Wendy laughed as if she just told a funny joke.
"Why did he forbid it?",Amber asked curiously.
"Because he knows they're all jealous",Wendy answered readily. "A lot of them had their eyes set on the Master, and it came as a great shock when the wedding was announced. You should have seen their faces"
This didn't make Amber feel any better. She would be the target of vicious gossips and jealous women now.
"They would all hate me",she mumbled.
Wendy stared at her for a while, and then took Amber's hands in hers.
"I know Master Draco treats you coldly, like he doesn't care",she said. "But I assure you, he cares. And he will not let any of those women try to harm you. Why do you think he didn't let them into the room?"
Amber sighed. Wendy was right, she thought. Draco didn't let them in because he knew they would try to hurt her physically or emotionally. It showed that he cared a little about her.
"Now come on",Wendy said finally and pushed herself up. "Let's help you put on your dress. You have nothing to be worried about. The wedding is strictly by invitation, so you won't see those brats that embarrassed you at the mall that day"
Amber took a deep breathe and stood up. Without another word, she let Wendy help her with her dress.
...
The hall was full to the brim, and guests kept pouring in. Elite guests as wealthy as Draco. They arrived in their classy cars and magnificent convoy. Everyone wanted to see the girl that had managed to steal the cold heart of the wealthy billionaire, Draco Birmingham.
Even the press and the paparazzi were in attendance, scampering after celebrities and millionaires, wanting to get a picture of them and a word they would like to say.
The hall was beautifully decorated, with colours of silver and gold, dazzling in the bright lights lit around. Draco had his reasons for using a hall for the wedding, instead of a church.
He and his kind couldn't step into the church because of the kind of creatures they were. He knew Amber wouldn't mind, so he didn't have to think of a reason to give her. She would follow everything he ordered her to do.
As he conversed with the wealthy guests that surrounded him, he watched the entrance eagerly, wondering what was taking them so long. He hadn't felt that way in all his years, and the feeling was new to him.
After a while, the leader of the orchestra that was ordered to play for the wedding, caught a glimpse of a wedding dress. He turned to his group and raised his hands, giving them a knowing look.
The band knew instantly what he meant, and they began the opening notes of the bridal song.
The hall went silent and everyone stood as Wendy appeared at the end of the aisle. She stepped in solemnly and the crowd gasped as the bride stepped in next, with a man holding her hand.
Draco had his eyes set on Amber, and her beauty blew him away. He stood at the end of the aisle rooted to the spot, his eyes locked on his bride as she walked down the aisle with her father beside her.
This was too perfect, he thought. Everything was going smoothly, too smoothly.
"Arty",he whispered to the bodyguard beside him.
"Yes Master"
"Have a look around, and tighten the security",Draco ordered. "I suddenly have a bad feeling"
Arty nodded and walked away, speaking quietly into the gadget in his hands. Soon all the bodyguards and the security team that had been hired went to work, securing the perimeters.
Draco lowered his gaze on Amber, and he smiled charmingly. He had made a good choice marrying her.
He only hoped the wedding would run smoothly without any threat.
