Stalker

Amber stood in front of the mirror, checking out her outfit. It was the first day of lectures for her and she felt nervous, as much as she was as excited.

Draco had outdone himself again. The entire closet was filled with designer clothes;ripped jeans, classy tshirts, gorgeous looking dresses, heels and sneakers, accessories, and so many others that she was aware would cost a fortune.

Shaking her head to get rid of her scattered thoughts, she leaned down and picked her classy backpack. There was a thick gold chain hanging from one part of the bag and she wished she could take it off. She didn't want to be the centre of attraction in the school.

"Amber",Wendy called from outside the door. "Are you ready?"

"Coming",Amber yelled back and took one last look at her reflection. Her hair was done up in a simple ponytail and her face was free from makeup. She looked okay.

As she turned to go, she glanced back at the wall. There was no sound or muffled thud, but she hadn't forgotten the scream she heard that day.

Looking away, she walked out of the room and joined Wendy in the hallway.

"I'm ready",she said cheerfully.

"Master Draco has prepared a personal car and driver for you",Wendy said as they descended the stairs. "And he wants you back home once you're done with school"

"Where is Draco?",Amber asked curiously.

"He has a lot of business to run",Wendy informed her. "So he's always busy. But don't worry dear, he will definitely make out time for you"

Amber didn't ask for Draco because she was suddenly missing him. She was just curious because he was hardly ever around.

There was a sleek red sports car parked outside and waiting for Amber.

"This is mine?",Amber asked astonishingly. Never in her life did she dream that she would have her own car.

"Of course",Wendy chuckled. "Remember I told you Draco will spend all he has on you. You are his wife"

Amber bit her lip and looked back to the mansion. Draco was being so nice to her. Even Wendy was the kindest woman she had ever met.

But...

She couldn't trust any of them. They were strange. And it was up to her to find out what secret they were keeping. She couldn't escape like she earlier thought of, not now that she was married to Draco. The only thing she could do was to play along with them while she dug deeper.

She suddenly thought back to the letter Draco received a few days ago. That alphabet scrawled on the front, V, had totally disturbed him until he couldn't control the way he spoke to her.

The alphabet clearly upset him. And Amber knew it wasn't just mere coincidence. The letter had to be from Velma.

But it didn't make sense. She saw Draco rip out her heart. It was her blood that stained his shirt black. Even when she couldn't understand why the woman's blood would be black, Amber knew it was her blood.

Her head felt like it would split in two with so much thoughts going through it.

"Amber!",Wendy snapped her fingers in front of her face.

Amber refocused and frowned up at Wendy. "Did you say something?",she asked.

"Yes dear child",Wendy said. "You spaced out a bit there. You're going to be late on your first day"

Amber shook her head and quickly slid into the back seat of the sleek car. The sport car screamed of wealth, with its posh leather and brand-new smell. There was already a driver waiting behind the wheels.

"Have fun. And don't get into trouble"

"Thanks Wendy",Amber waved as the driver slowly maneuvered round the water fountain.

A few seconds after the car disappeared through the silver gates of the estate, Wendy brought out a phone form her pants pocket and typed a swift message.

The message was short and straight to the point.

'She's on her way. Master Draco wants you to keep an eye on her. He suspects that she knows something'

A reply came almost instantly.

'I thought he erased her memories'

Wendy replied swiftly.

'He did. But you know when the master suspects something, it always turns out right. His new wife might not be human as we think she is. Keep a close eye on her'

'Will do',the unknown person replied and Wendy pocketed the phone before returning to the house.

...

Rockville University was situated at the edge of the city and it was a long two hour drive.

Amber dozed off for most of the ride. The driver didn't try to start a conversation with her, and she didn't bother to start one either. She had a lot of things to think about.

She was nervous about her first day. She would meet new people, and when they found out she was married to Draco Birmingham, they would hate her. Many would try to befriend her, so they could have a taste of the wealth she had.

It would be hard knowing who was a real friend and who was an enemy in disguise. But it would be fun too. She couldn't wait to make new friends.

After the long two hour drive, the sport car finally slowed down and went through the large gates of Rockville University.

Amber was astonished at the crowd she saw inside the school. The interior was enormous, like there was a totally different city within the school.

There was a large stone statue in the middle of the school, surrounded by tiny water fountains. The statue was of a man, presumably the founder of the school.

There were some words carved into the bottom of the statue, obviously the motto of the school and Amber read them out as the car drove past it.

"Never give up until you get to the top. And even then, never give up!"

Nice, she thought.

The sports car finally slowed down and crawled into the parking lot. Amber sat still, watching the small crowd that gathered beside the statue. They were a mixture of boys and girls, and they were gawking at the car, eyes wide and mouth opened in admiration and awe.

The sports car was the type of car a wealthy person would come to school with, and they wanted to see who would alight from it. They were curious to know if it was a student or a professor.

Amber stared at them nervously. This was the first hurdle to jump.

"Mrs Birmingham",the driver called, startling her.

"Yes",Amber responded and turned to stare at him.

"The Master wants you to have this",the driver said and handed a black leather wallet to her.

Amber opened the wallet and her eyes popped out at the sight of the new dollar bills arranged within it.

"But... but Draco already gave me his black card",she protested. If people saw her with that kind of cash, they would think she was the daughter of a president.

"There's no harm in having a few extra cash",the driver said and shrugged.

Amber stared at him silently. He appeared friendly, unlike the mechanical prototypes of the other bodyguards.

"What's your name?",she asked him.

"DiCaprio"

"Di what?",Amber asked with a frown.

The man chuckled. "Just call me DC"

Amber smiled at him. He was definitely friendly. "Thank you DC"

She shoved the wallet into her backpack and grabbed her iPad.

"I will be waiting here after your lectures for today are over",DC informed her as she got down.

"Okay",Amber said and shut the door. She watched as the car slowly backed out of the parking lot and exited the school.

Amber took a deep breath and turned around. It was time to dive into the den of lions, she thought.

The stares had already begun. Students whispered between themselves, wondering who she was. Especially when they saw the sports car that dropped her and the expensive backpack she carried.

Amber merely lowered her head and was about to walk towards her faculty when a pair of arms pulled her back.

"We meet again Amber",a familiar deep voice said behind her.

Amber whirled around and her eyes hardened when she saw him.

"Derrick",she said coldly.

Was he stalking her?
