First Floor Cleared

Ezra's eyes opened slowly as he felt immense pain allover his body, and it felt as though his brain would jump out of his body. All the while, he could hear multiple system notifications sounds ringing in his head.

He slowly opened his eyes, and when he could see his surroundings now, the first thing and the last notification that appeared before his eyes was;

[Congratulations host, you have cleared the first floor of the abyss and completed the first stage]

Seeing the message before his eyes, Ezra wasn't dumb enough not to know what it meant.

'So that's it? I've entered the next floor…' Ezra thought to himself. His body wasn't feeling too good at that point, so he lay there for a while.

He had heard all the ringing in his ear, so he proceeded to open his notification panel to see the previous notifications. He began tracing the notification messages back, and the more he looked the more he couldn't quite understand.

Seeing the catalogue of notifications, Ezra could still find some abnormal messages in these notifications that didn't look quite right in his eyes.

'I think I'm feeling better now.'

He stood up from where he lay, after all, this was the second floor. He couldn't remain defenseless on the floor, especially since he had no idea the strength of the monsters in this floor. Ezra began walking while reading and sorting through his notifications. He couldn't remain in one location, that was an easy way to get killed.

"This situation is just too weird. Leaving these notifications aside, this doesn't look right.." Ezra said to himself, a bit confused.

'If anything, it looks like a regular dungeon back when I was alive.' He thought.

His reason for this was because the crystals he could see around were not exactly the same with the one he was now used to seeing, and they emitted way too much light than normal.

CHING CHING CLING KAIN

'What's that sound?' He asked himself, for this sound sounded familiar.

Ezra immediately traced the sound, and did so with caution. He even activated his Concealment skill just in case. It was a new environment, so he had to be extra careful.

'Are those?...' Ezra questioned his judgement for a short while.

"Those are definitely people, right?" He said, a bit doubtfully.

Those Ezra had his eyes fixated upon were completely unaware that someone was behind them, or even looking at them.

"Hi there.." Ezra said with a shaky voice. Maybe he hadn't communicated for so long? Maybe that was the cause.

"Arrhhhhhhh!!!"

"WOW!!"

"AHHH!"

The three young men exclaimed, clearly startled.

"Where the fuck did you come from?!" The youth asked. Ezra suddenly appearing behind them certainly spooked them to death. Just a while ago, they were on the topic of the possibility of a monster attacking them from behind and their inevitable deaths. Of course, they could only make such jokes knowing the dungeon had been cleared.

"Yeah man, at least don't wait till you get so close before saying something. You nearly gave me a heart attack just now. Damn!" The youth breathe a sigh of relief.

"True, but how did you even get in here without anyone noticing?" The last youth said. He certainly noticed the clothes Ezra had on, it did look a bit weird and old school. Also, there was no way anyone not on the team of workers would be allowed to enter the dungeon at such a time, maybe the association or hunters, but that was rare. Seeing the clothes Ezra had on, it was unlikely he was from any.

'Ah, I didn't think this through did I?' Ezra thought to himself.

It certainly was odd that he was there, not to mention his raggy clothes, it was suspicious no matter how he looked at it.

'I fucked up.'

-"Actually, I…" Ezra said, but didn't get to finish before getting interrupted.

"Is this guy some monster disguised as a human?" One of the youths said, and immediately, reacting to his words, the other two held their weapons in front of them and stood guard. They were only holding pickaxes, but it was better than their hands.

"There's no monster that can turn into a human, stop talking shit." This was true, though there were some monsters that resembled humans, but even those had distinguishing features, and not to mention, the gate they were in was not a high ranking one, it was impossible to find these type of monsters.

'It's no use.' Thought, Ezra. Keeping this up will only end badly the way he saw it.

He made his mind quite quickly and took one step forward. Seeing this, the young men before him got even more vigilant, but alas, they were weak hunters and normal humans. The next moment, Ezra disappeared before their very eyes. What they didn't know was that he had appeared behind them. In the blink of an eye, he knocked them all unconscious and walked away. Before that though, he helped himself to some cleaner clothes. These lazy youths hadn't been working much, so their clothes were cleaner than supposed to.

'Forgive me for this. It's necessary.' Ezra thought to himself, as he took the clothes off a body on the floor and put it on.

"I hope I didn't kill them? After all, there has never been a need for me to knock out monsters." In the abyss, every move and strike was a fatal one and aimed strictly to kill, so this was a first.

'But a kill notification would appear if anything went wrong though, so I should be good.' Ezra thought to himself.

'I need to leave here fast.'

With the thought in mind, he snuck out of the gate stealthily, making sure he activated his concealment skill beforehand.

Coming out of the gate, he saw quite the number of people scattered around, and a group was walking towards the gate at that time also. He quickly found a spot to hide and moved as fast and quietly as he could. Maintaining caution, he strategically left the area before his 30 seconds were up and his concealment skill used up.

'Strange, I could have sworn I felt something just now…' "Well, it's probably nothing." There was no way a dungeon break would happen at that time, so this person ignored it.

'The association is really capable, huh? I almost got caught!' Ezra exclaimed in his mind. Lucky, he made it in the Knick of time.

'I should get out of here, but first, where am I exactly?'
