After standing still for a while, she eventually had to turn around and leave.
"Madam," the Land butler suddenly spoke from behind her as she moved, startling her. She was already feeling uncomfortable, but then she heard the Land butler say, "There is a vacant guest room on the third floor."
She felt even more uneasy.
"I'll sleep with John." The words sounded ambiguous, but they were not unreasonable.
Jane entered John's bedroom.
In the dim light, the Land butler stood in the hallway with a furrowed brow, waiting.
He was waiting for Jane to be kicked out.
But five minutes passed, and there was no sound from inside. Helpless, he had to report to Old John with a heavy heart, "Sir, Madam Jane has entered the young master's bedroom and hasn't come out."
In the spacious living room, Mrs. Land was wearing a pink silk pajama and sitting comfortably on a leather sofa, drinking tea. After hearing the butler's words, a hint of sarcasm appeared on his beautiful face that looked like he was only in his thirties. "John won't touch her."
After Jane entered the bedroom, she heard the sound of rushing water coming from the bathroom. John was taking a shower.
She walked over and opened the closet.
She remembered when they got married, John bought her a lot of new clothes to hang here, including various kinds of pajamas.
However, after searching around, she found that there wasn't a single piece.
"What are you doing in my room?" John's voice suddenly sounded from behind her.
She turned around and saw a man who had just finished showering. His dark hair was still dripping water, and the water droplets flowed down his taut muscles and into the towel wrapped around his waist.
The intense visual impact made her head hot for a moment.
But under his cold gaze, she quickly regained her composure. "I am your wife. Is it wrong for me to appear in our marital bedroom?"
John's thin lips curled up, seemingly mocking her words.
After a moment of silence, he coldly ordered, "Get out."
Jane was stunned, and her face burned as if she had been slapped.
She wasn't stupid. John's indifference towards her, his disregard for Jack, and the disappearance of her clothes from this bedroom were all signs that their marriage was in danger.
Perhaps their marriage had already had problems, and she had been too busy with her career and taking care of Jack to notice.
Or, deep down, she had always believed that John, her childhood sweetheart, would always stand still and wait for her, so she pursued her dreams and took care of their children with peace of mind.
But she didn't expect that unconsciously, they had grown further apart.
After a moment of silence, Jane spoke softly, "When did you become so impatient with me?"
John's handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly. He bent down and picked up the cigarette and lighter on the bedside table. With a snap, the elegant smoke he exhaled blurred his expression, making it difficult to discern.
But Jane vaguely knew one thing: John was not the same towards her as before.
Without even having time to feel sad, she followed the ambulance to the hospital.
The doctor said that luckily they had given medication on time, otherwise the child might not have survived.
Nervous and scared all night, Jane finally fell into a deep sleep by the bedside after confirming that Jack was okay. However, even in her dreams, she was restless and had nightmares.
When she woke up, she met Jack's black and bright eyes. But this time, there was a melancholy in his eyes that didn't belong to his age.
"Jack, what's wrong?" She sat up and instinctively reached out to touch Jack's forehead, afraid that he had a fever.
Jack pursed his lips and hesitated for a moment before speaking seriously, "Mom, am I really Dad's child?"
Jane felt inexplicable, "Of course you are Dad's child."
She didn't understand why Jack would ask such a question.
Jack frowned, "But they said I'm a bastard. I asked Auntie, and she said that I'm not like Jill, that Jill and I have different fathers."
Jane's eyelids twitched, and her heart tightened.
How could Alice say such a thing?
"That's just nonsense. Don't believe them." She firmly reassured Jack.
After all, Jack was just a child and naturally believed in his mother. After repeated comfort, his mood gradually calmed down.
However, Jane's heart was in turmoil and unable to calm down.
Alice's original name was Ru. After her parents passed away, she was adopted by the John family. She appeared obedient and sensible on the surface, but behind Jane's back, she often did things to target her.
She had wanted to ask Alice for a clear answer, but she didn't expect Alice to come to the hospital, carrying two breakfasts in her hands.
Not wanting Jack to be affected, after Alice put down the breakfast, Jane called her out of the ward.
"Why did you say that Jack isn't my husband's biological child?" In the hospital corridor, Jane was straightforward, not wanting to beat around the bush with Alice Garcia, who was two-faced.
Alice Garcia gaze flickered slightly, and after a moment of silence, she apologetically said, "Jane Garcia, I heard it from the servants at John's mansion."
"Which servant? What's their name?" Jane's gaze was like a torch. She didn't expect someone to spread such rumors.
Alice Garcia hesitated, "Every servant is talking about it."
Jane Garcia breath sank.
How could John's family tolerate such rumors that slandered her and Jack?
These people even dared to say it in front of Jack, weren't they trying to kill him?
"Jane, why did you cuckold John?" Alice hesitated, adding another sentence.
Jane gave her a sharp look, "I didn't."
Alice laughed, obviously not believing her, "If it wasn't true, Jack almost died, why didn't anyone from John's family come?"
