Mom doesn't help(1)

Aunt Xia and Jack both disagreed with her decision to rest at home, but she had made up her mind. After a quick shower and changing into a T-shirt, jeans, and canvas shoes, she headed downstairs.

"The canvas shoes are very comfortable. Don't worry, I'm not in pain anymore." Afraid that they would worry about her, she walked around the living room twice to prove that she was really not in pain.

As she was about to leave, Jack handed her two freshly made sandwiches. "Mom, take good care of yourself."

Her heart felt sour as she took the sandwiches and ate them bite by bite.

She remembered that there were several cars in the house before, and she had even bought a nanny car with her own money. But when she looked into the garage, it was empty. There wasn't a single car.

Her face darkened, and she could only walk towards the gate of the community while eating the sandwiches.

Jack stood at the gate, looking at his mother's lonely figure. His heart felt sour, and he secretly wiped away his tears. Then he turned around and looked up at Aunt Xia. "Mom is actually in pain, but she's holding it in."

He had just noticed that his mother's eyebrows were tightly furrowed as she walked.

Aunt Xia sighed. "Your mother is a strong-willed person."

After asking around on WeChat, she found out that the Starlight gathering was arranged at the Flame Club.

As she got out of the taxi, she looked down at herself. She was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and canvas shoes, which didn't fit in with the elite guests dressed in formal attire at the famous club. But she had no choice. If she wore high heels, her feet would be ruined.

She took a deep breath and tied her hair up high with a rubber band. Then she walked inside, where she was greeted by two young and handsome boys. She smiled at them as perfectly as possible, and while they were distracted, she quickly ran into the elevator.

"Hey, wasn't that girl just now the singer Jane?"

"Yes, it was her. I didn't expect her to be even more beautiful in real life than on the screen. She looks so down-to-earth, like a big sister next door."

"She is quite pretty, even without formal wear and makeup... but it's a pity she's a fake singer. Such a waste of a beautiful face."

Jane found the private room where the top executives of Starlight were gathered. The room was lively, with groups of people drinking and chatting together in a harmonious atmosphere. Elizabeth and Alice Garcia were there too, chatting with the second largest shareholder and general manager of Starlight, Mr. Green.

Mr. Green was originally an uninvolved person when Starlight was first established. It was only after Starlight gained a foothold in the entertainment industry that he started working there. He had been with Starlight for only three or four years, but his position was second only to Elizabeth.

It was rumored that Mr. Green had a loose private life and liked to pursue the company's artists. At the moment, Sarah Ford, who had recently been heavily promoted by the company, was sitting next to Mr. Green. She was wearing a low-cut V-neck dress, and her petite body was almost snuggled up to Mr. Green.

Mr. Green didn't seem to care about being seen, and his greasy and fat face was full of smiles as he chatted with Elizabeth and Alice Garcia.

"Mom, Cousin-" Jane looked around and went straight to Elizabeth's side. Her fair face was smiling sweetly, and she sat affectionately on the other side of Elizabeth.

The people who were close enough were stealing glances at Jane, but most of their eyes showed disdain and contempt.

Mr. Green, however, showed no emotion except for astonishment and desire. "This must be Miss Jane," he said, staring at her with admiration.

Jane felt goosebumps on her arms when she heard his tone. She rubbed her arms discreetly and smiled at Mr. Green. "I'm Jane, the biological daughter of Emma Garcia and Mrs. Elizabeth. I hope Mr. Green can give me more guidance in the future."

Jane tried to suppress her nausea and reached out her hand to Mr. Green. She had naturally beautiful hands like those of a pianist, slender and fair, with symmetrical lines. Mr. Green shook her hand and held it for a long time, and Jane looked at Elizabeth pleadingly, but Elizabeth seemed to be drinking water and didn't notice her.
