She stood up immediately as if injected with chicken blood, went back to her room to change clothes, and rushed downstairs at lightning speed. She forgot about the painful blisters on her feet from soaking in water.
Aunt Xia followed her anxiously, watching her leave.
There were no cars in the garage, and it was difficult to get a taxi in the middle of the night. Finally, a ride-hailing car arrived first. She didn't care about safety and got in the car, heading straight to the Hilton Hotel.
When she arrived, it was almost 3 o'clock in the morning. She wanted to knock on Elizabeth's door to see if she was awake, but when she found room 1203, she saw five or six people pouring out of the room. Each person was holding a brown paper bag, and one of them was too excited to wait and opened his bag to reveal a thick stack of cash.
"Hey, this is the most money I've made since becoming a marketing blogger."
The others also opened their bags to reveal cash.
"Me too, I didn't even have to write anything. The articles were all prepared in advance by Starlight for me. How about you guys?"
Everyone nodded in agreement.
As they chatted and laughed, they suddenly saw Jane approaching.
She was wearing black sportswear, with damp hair falling behind her. Her delicate and pretty face looked pale.
They were all long-time followers of the entertainment industry, and they naturally recognized her. Perhaps feeling guilty, they all tightly gripped their paper bags and hastily walked towards the elevator.
Jane recognized them as the marketing bloggers who spoke for Sarah Ford.
They had just come out of room 1203!
She thought of something and her heart ached numbly. When she walked into room 1203, her whole body was stiff.
The room was luxurious and quiet, with Elizabeth and Alice Garcia sitting on the sofa, elegantly sipping red wine and looking as if they were celebrating.
Alice Garcia was the first to notice her, and she exclaimed in surprise before smiling triumphantly. "Jane is here, why don't you sit with Mom for a bit? I'm going to bed."
She yawned lazily and went to sleep in her room.
Jane dragged her feet to Elizabeth's side, staring directly at her. "Mom, I can't agree to let Sarah Ford replace me in my achievements. This is something that I cannot accept."
There was no doubt that Elizabeth and Alice Garcia had planned this whole thing from start to finish.
She didn't understand why her mother, who had loved her so much when she was young, would agree to let an outsider take all of her lifelong achievements.
Elizabeth was surprised to see Jane here, but once this matter was exposed, she would know by tomorrow morning at the latest, and a series of inquiries would be inevitable.
"Jane, Vivian Media's attitude is already clear. They won't budge. You will never be able to regain your status. Instead of wasting your resources, why not let the company promote another artist who is more valuable to us?"
"No, it's not the same. Vivian Media just made up lies, and there are still many fans who believe in me, but now there is Sarah Ford..." They looked so alike in their performances, and after tonight, no one would believe her anymore.
"It's all the same. You're going to work as a manager at Starlight anyway, and you won't be singing anymore. What's wrong with giving Sarah Ford your title?" Elizabeth spoke with a slight reprimand, making it seem like Jane was being unreasonable.
Jane looked at her mother, and the last bit of hope in her heart slowly extinguished.
In fact, the attitude of those marketing bloggers in the corridor just now and the heavy money they held in their hands already indicated that her visit to Elizabeth was in vain.
But, after all, it was her lifelong effort, and she really couldn't accept it.
She got up and sat next to Elizabeth, wanting to act spoiled and hold her arm, begging her again. But as soon as she moved to her side, Elizabeth yawned and stood up, "I'm going to bed too. If you're okay, go home."
