To take action to poison someone(1)

John looked at Jane strangely, "Buy and give it to you?"

Jane immediately shook her head, "No, I just...want you to buy this hospital."

John's family had many industries, but none seemed to involve the medical field. She just thought that if he bought this hospital, they would be closer to the truth and to their son.

"For what reason?" His tone was cold, as if he had no interest in this industry.

Jane racked her brain, John's grandfather was a business genius, the John family had assets beyond measure, and he wouldn't be interested in this field unless it was worth his time and money. Finally, she gritted her teeth and said, "Children have weak immune systems, and they're bound to get sick. If you buy Saint Mary's Hospital, it will be more convenient for Jill to get medical treatment in the future."

John fell silent for a moment. "Makes sense."

Jane: "..."

So, did she successfully persuade him?

Just as she finished massaging his neck, her phone rang. She looked and saw that it was Aunt Xia calling. She immediately answered, "Jane, can you come back now?"

Although Aunt Xia tried her best to sound calm, her tone revealed her nervousness.

Jane immediately sensed that something was wrong. "What happened, Aunt Xia?"

Aunt Xia sighed, "Jack was burned while having breakfast, he went to the hospital and has already come back. I thought I should let you know about it."

Jane immediately said, "I'll come back right away."

After hanging up the phone, she looked at John and said, "Something's come up at home, and I need to go to Starlight. I'll be back here before 12 pm."

With that, she deliberately ignored John's sudden change in expression and left without looking back.

Coincidentally, she saw Mark Cooper and Kevin coming out of the elevator from afar, so she lowered her head, turned a corner, and left through a safe passage to avoid their biting remarks about her leaving her post.

At Jane's home, Alice Garcia happily drove to Starlight after seeing a call from Jane's aunt.

When Jane arrived home, Jack was in his room playing Sudoku with one hand obediently. "Let me see where you got burned," Jane said, and as she approached, gently pulled back his arm to reveal numerous blisters on his forearm. She felt heartbroken at the sight. "What happened?"

She looked over at Auntie Xia who was standing beside her. Auntie Xia was about to speak but was interrupted by Jack who said, "I accidentally spilled porridge on my arm while I was drinking it."

Jane furrowed her brows and comforted Jack before reminding him to rest well. After leaving the room, Auntie Xia continued, "Jack is such a sensible child. He was afraid you wouldn't have a good time at home, so he intentionally said he did it himself. Actually, it was Penelope Reyes. She held a bowl of porridge and poured it on his arm while he wasn't paying attention..."

After hanging up the phone, she looked at John and said, "Something has come up at home, I need to take care of it and then make a trip to Starlight. I'll be here before noon."

Ignoring John's instant change in expression, she turned and left without looking back.

As luck would have it, she saw Mark Cooper and Kevin coming out of the elevator from a distance. She lowered her head and turned into a safe passage to avoid them.

Their sharp tongues would have ripped her apart if they saw her neglecting her duties.

At Jane's house.

Alice Garcia happily hummed a tune and drove to Starlight after hearing from Auntie Xia that Jane was coming.

When Jane got home, Jack was in his room playing Sudoku with one hand like a good boy.

"Let me see where you got burnt." Jack hid his wound behind his back as Jane suddenly came back. Jane approached him and gently pulled his arm, seeing that his little arm was covered in blisters, her heart ached terribly. "What happened?"

She turned to Auntie Xia who was standing beside her and asked. Just as Auntie Xia was about to speak, Jack interrupted, "I accidentally spilled porridge on my arm while drinking it."

Jane frowned and comforted Jack before reminding him to rest well.

After leaving the room, Auntie Xia continued, "Jack is such a sensible child. He was afraid you would have a hard time at home, so he intentionally claimed that he did it himself. In fact, it was Penelope Reyes. She was holding a bowl of porridge and poured it over his arm while he wasn't paying attention..."

"Penelope Reyes?" Jane frowned. If she remembered correctly, Penelope Reyes was Alice Garcia's cousin and had just started working as a maid at Jane's house.

"Auntie Xia, could you please call her to my room?" Jane asked.

Auntie Xia went to call Penelope Reyes, who looked impatient and complained, "What does she want with me?"

With Alice Reyes backing her up, Penelope Reyes was becoming more and more arrogant. Auntie Xia glared at her and said, "You'll know when you go."

Penelope Reyes reluctantly went to Jane's room.
