Jane's heart ached so much that it throbbed with humiliation.
She stood up and wanted to move away from John.
"Stop!" John commanded coldly. "There are still 29 days left in our contract, and you have no right to break it."
Jane clenched her hands at her sides, slowly turned around to face John, and asked, "What else do you want?"
John stared at her.
He traveled out of town every day, fearing that he might lose control and strangle her if he stayed in S City. However, he never expected that even after 21 days of restraint, he still showed signs of losing control when he saw her. He tightly gripped his hands and wanted to choke her throat, make her cry and weep, and make her repent.
"I brought you here just to let you know that you killed a new life. You are a sinner," he said.
Jane's heart was pricked, but she maintained a calm demeanor. "Yes, I am a sinner. I have no right to bear John's child." Can he let her go now?
Her tone was indifferent, as if she didn't want to bear John's child that much.
This tone made John even angrier.
The atmosphere between the two was about to explode, but at that moment, a childish voice rang out.
"Mommy--" It was Jack.
Jane had not returned to her home for 21 days, and during that time, Alice Garcia was almost driven crazy. She searched everywhere and finally found out that Jane was living in John's Lavender Manor villa, but she couldn't get in. Today, she heard from a company artist that Jane had been seen at the obstetrics and gynecology department of St. Mary's Hospital, so she urged Jack to come and look for her. Unexpectedly, they really met.
Moreover, she's also with John!
Jack hugged Jane's legs and looked up at her with teary eyes. "Mom, why haven't you been coming home? Jack is so worried about you..."
Ever since he found out she was sick, Jack had been crying every day.
Jane gently touched his face, feeling like he had lost weight. "I'm okay." She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but since she had been staying at Lavender Manor under her aunt's careful care, she felt like she had improved a lot. When she first arrived, she didn't have any cough medicine with her, but she didn't cough much either.
Jack knew that his mother was only saying she was okay because she was strong. He lovingly shielded her behind him and bravely looked at John.
As John witnessed the deep bond between mother and son, his expression became increasingly unpleasant. When he met Jack's gaze, it became even more gloomy.
Alice Garcia turned her eyes around. "Jack really is Jane's precious son. He loves his mom so much."
The atmosphere became even more tense.
Jack tightly held Jane's hand. "Mom, let's go home."
Jane was in a difficult position. John hadn't said anything yet, so she couldn't leave.
Alice Garcia was confused and felt that Jane was shameless for staying by John's side.
As the tension rose, a tall figure in a white coat strolled over. He glanced at the closed door of the delivery room and then at John and Jane. "Hey, what are you all doing here at the delivery room? I heard you've been waiting here for two or three days. Are you jealous of someone giving birth?"
The last sentence was directed at Jane.
Jane looked at Mark Cooper expressionlessly. "I have children, do I need to be jealous?"
Mark Cooper sneered. "Yes, you do. Which other mother can create a medical miracle and give birth to fraternal twins with different fathers?"
Jane was used to being insulted by Mark Cooper, and she didn't get angry. But Jack reacted strongly and ran over to Mark Cooper, pushing him hard. "You're a bad person! Don't say bad things about my mom!"
Like a bullet, Mark Cooper was caught off guard and took two steps back. He immediately became angry. "Jane, is this the son of your adulterer? Only a brat like him would say something like that."
