Can only rely on oneself(1)

Upon seeing the badge that the police officer had displayed, Carl Edwards slumped in his chair. Based on the funds he had embezzled, he was certain he would be going to jail.

"Why are you arresting me? Everything was done at Jane's instruction. She trusted me with her money, and I spent it freely," he exclaimed, desperate to shift the blame. He stood up and glared at Jane with fury, as if she had taken a bite out of him.

Jane smirked and slowly walked towards Carl Edwards. She leaned in and spoke in a low voice, "Or you could drag Alice Garcia down with you. That possibility is even greater."

Carl Edwards' face went stiff, and he glared at Jane, "You shameless woman. Who gave you the right to call the police? You make so much money just by opening your mouth, can't I use a bit of your money?"

Jane widened her eyes, having met many shameless individuals, but never to the extent of Carl Edwards.

Tsk tsk, truly pushing the limits.

She looked at the police officer and smiled righteously, "Officer, you heard what he said. He's committing a crime and refuses to admit it. I hope he rots in jail."

The three plainclothes police officers worked together, with two restraining the furious Carl Edwards while one pulled out handcuffs. In a blink of an eye, Carl Edwards was handcuffed.

The cold touch on his wrist only fueled Carl Edwards' madness. He glared at Jane with eyes that could almost shoot flames, "Jane, you'll become mute, I curse you to a painful death."

His malicious words filled the entire conference room.

Jane's expression gradually turned cold and stern.

Her voice was her most precious asset, second only to her children. Carl Edwards had pointed out the thing that she cared about the most, and she couldn't stand it.

She picked up a roll of duct tape from the conference table and handed it to the police officer. "Officer, please put an end to this menace."

The police officer was understanding and took the duct tape without a second thought, silencing Carl Edwards' filthy mouth.

Carl Edwards couldn't believe it as he stared at the police officer, struggling and writhing as if protesting. He then turned to Elizabeth, his eyes filled with pleading.

Elizabeth's expression was now extremely ugly. She had followed Alice Garcia's suggestion to appoint Carl Edwards as the manager of Oliver Ford and Kevin Flores, but she never expected him to be so unscrupulous. He embezzled so much money from the artists, how could he still be a manager? Even if he was released by the police, he would be ostracized by the entertainment industry.

Now even the police were involved, and there was no way she could help him.

"Ms. Elizabeth, isn't the person you recommended so unreliable? Isn't this harming the company's interests?" Mr. Green frowned and spoke, not because he was against Elizabeth or siding with Jane, but simply because he was angry. With someone like Carl Edwards, who had swallowed up over fifty million of Jane's money, as the manager of Oliver Ford, his future earnings would also go into his own pocket. What were they, the shareholders, supposed to eat and drink?

Elizabeth was questioned and her expression worsened. She shook her head and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't investigate thoroughly." After a pause, she looked at Jane and spoke with a slight hint of blame, "If Jane had evidence of Carl Edwards' crime, why didn't she bring it up earlier?"

Jane's eyes revealed a hint of sarcasm. If she had told Elizabeth privately beforehand, she feared that Elizabeth would not only not fire Carl Edwards but also try to cover it up.

However, now in front of all the senior executives, there was no way Carl Edwards could turn the situation around.

As the company's general manager, Elizabeth could not side with an economic criminal.
