CHAPTER 26 Like What You See?

　　I'm still confused about both of these boys' sudden interest in me, but I decided to go with it. Maybe they feel sorry for me. Although, it seems like Mike is actually interested in me. But am I interested in him?

　　Either way, it makes me happy that I finally have friends. I've been alone for so long that this seems too good to be true.

　　Evan took my hand and headed to his car so we could go home together. I could tell Mike wasn't happy about me leaving with Evan, but it made sense since he was my neighbor.

　　He stopped the car halfway and parked inside a random parking lot. I looked at him questioningly.

　　"I'm sorry," he said.

　　"For what?" I asked.

　　"For always calling you a nerd," he said.

　　"Why are you sorry? You called me names all the time," I laughed bitterly. "Ever since we met, you've been calling me names, bullying me, making me do chores for you. Why are you feeling bad now?" I didn't try to hide the pain in my voice.
