CHAPTER 37 Sleepover

  Seriously?

  Now, what does he want from me?

  I buried my anger deep in my chest and let him into the house. What did he have to say for himself?

  "Can we talk?"

  I glared at him without answering his question. He was leaving me with little choice here. I turned and walked away, and he knew to follow me. My mom wouldn't be home anytime soon today because she was visiting a relative and planned to stay there overnight. Thank god for that.

  "What do you want to tell me? Lecture me more about how I shouldn't go on a date with Mike?"

  "Nope. That's not why I'm here." Evan shook his head.

  "Then why are you here?"

  "I wanted to see you."

  Butterflies in my stomach made their appearance and I wanted to slap myself. Why did I keep getting swayed by his words? "Wha...why?"

  "I missed you, I guess. Besides, I didn't know I needed an excuse to see my friend." Evan shrugged.

  "I wasn't sure we were friends," I said. I couldn't figure out what he was on about.
