Chapter 15: Bitten

Azie's POV

[ 2 days later ]

"I know where we're going." We all snapped our heads in Drake's direction. After half an hour of contemplation, finally someone broke the silence. We've been living off and taking our rest inside the bus and the car for a day not saying anything to each other. I don't even know if all of us got enough time to sleep.

Kasalukuyan muna kaming naka hinto sa gilid ng daan ng masigurong walang naka sunod na infected sa amin.

"Where?" I asked.

"My brother lives not far away from here. He's a part of the State army but suddenly they lost contact of him. I've talked to him three weeks ago and he told me he's been living at the mountain side of this city..." He trailed off and I get what he means. I nodded.

"Well then, we'll make our way towards that mountain where your brother is." No one said anything, might take that silence as yes.

"Lead the way, Drake." That's Gifflet. I glanced at him and mouthed thanks. He just gave me a small smile.

"Be careful guys, we're going back to the busy but now chaotic roads. Someone might jump into the view. You know..." We all climbed back inside our cars and started driving back at the sea side road of the city.

My eyes roamed around it.

To be honest, now that we're back in the city, my anxiety doubled up and I can see my companions felt the same way too.

I stared at the bright sky. I can't believe the city's already in severe wreck just in two days. I don't even think we heard helicopters flying around the sky, police cars or any help after what we've heard on the radio. And yeah, all the lines were cut off last night. No signals or anything.

Feels like they just let everything collapse. They left humanities to die.

I looked in front of me when the bus halted to a stop and Drake up the front did the same thing. All of us stood up and went outside.

"Uhh guys?" I heard Dearil said.

Cars were lined up in front of us making the way hard to cross. No one's alive too. Like this part of the city were already abandoned. Too scary and eerie.

There were still smokes revolving around us, broken cars, disgusting guts of dead people and blood stains all over.

"You've got to be kidding me." Says Helen. I looked at all of them.

"Listen up everyone. Pack your things up because this will be a long walk." I stated. I can almost see how scared and terrified everyone but they still managed to nod their heads and was about to get inside the bus, when Alby started shouting that made everyone panicked.

"What the fuck?!" I said and glared at him. He shouldn't be doing that because he might caught some infected's attention!

"Where are we going to go? And why do we need to follow you huh?" His eyes were burning with rage. Everyone can see it.

"What the fuck Alby? Are you serious? Wanna get us killed?!" 'Di makapaniwalang wika ni Chelsea.

"Calm down man." The boys tried holding him when he shook them off.

"Don't fucking touch me bro." He said to Gifflet. Gifflet stood there silently but I can see that he's controlling his temper. Alby glanced back at me.

I shot him a look, my eyebrows furrowed.

"To the mountains." I replied.

"Oh bitch, it's not like you know we'll be safe there?" He said, giving me a mocking gaze. I balled my fist and strutted towards him.

"Azie!" Helen called but I ignore her. I stood in front of Alby, face to face.

I am so done with this bullshit. All I wanted is for us to reach some safe zones if ever there is one and keep everyone alive as far as possible yet there's always people like him who can't pull themselves together and I am not up for it now.

"Do you have any better idea than staying here and wait for those monsters to eat the shit out of us?" I stared at him coldly. He was starting to sweat like a maniac and avoiding my gaze. He didn't said anything.

"She's right Alby. Let's just follow her." Tumingin ito kay Roxanne saka ulit ibinalik ang tingin sa akin.

"What the fuck? Why are all of you wanted to follow her?!" I just watched him go crazy.

"Watch your words man." Seryosong wika ni Arius na ikinatawa nito.

"Bitch! I don't have any better idea, but it's much better if everyone stays here! Who knows you will just put us in danger?" Because of what he said, Arius punched him straight in the face since he's the closest one next to me. Gifflet and Dearil get a hold of him while Drake, Helen and Rodrick did the same thing to Alby.

I just stood there, watching when something hit me

I looked at Flora who's holding Luna and ushered them to go inside the bus. She didn't said anything but hop inside.

"T-they go cr-crazy when g-get bi-bit.. sweating... veins popping o-out.."

Looking at Alby right now, he's showing something similar to what that doctor told me. I squeeze my eyes shut, pulled my gun and directed it to Alby. Everyone were stunned.

"Let him go." Simple ngumit madiin kong utos kina Rodrick at Drake na agad namang binitawan si Alby.

"Azie?" Chelsea called out in a shaking voice. I didn't leave my gaze to Alby, gun still draw towards him.

"W-what do you t-think you're doing?" Kinakabahang tanong ni Alby.

I remained silent until all of them understands what I am trying to do.

"You're bitten, right?" I stated. I can hear some gasps and cursed.

"Please..." He started walking towards me, his hands were both raised up.

"Stop." I ordered and tighten my grip on the gun. He immediately stop. And that's when I- we saw it. Teeth marks on his right lower palm turning dark violet and revealing some thick black veins.

"When?"

"K-kanina...." He said stuttering and almost crying.

"What the fuck? You moron!" Helen and Chelsea shouted at the same time. While he and I stood there still staring at each other. I can hear Helen's sobs.

"What the hell man?" 'Di naman maka paniwalang wika ni Drake at napa atras.

"I'm sorry... I just... I don't want to die..." He said looking at my direction, eyes pleading with tears. Sandali akong napa iwas ng tingin saka binalik ang mga mata dito ng hindi nag sasalita.

"P-please don't kill me.. please." My eyes widen when I saw him cried a blood.

"Oh shit!" Arius cursed.

He looked at us confused then touched his face.

"N-no! No! No! Help me! H-help me please.." I started walking towards him, gun still pointing at him.

"Dwarf. What are you trying to do?" Tanong ni Arius.

"I'm going to help him ease the pain." Helen suddenly stood in front of me.

"No! Stop!" She shouted. I stared at her.

"P-please, I'm begging you... he-help-." Alby puked.

"Oh God.." I heard Helen mumbled and was about to slouch when Alby took a step backwards.

"N-no! D-don't come near me..." Pigil ni Alby kay Helen.

Alby looked at me, crying. I can hear some sobs behind me.

"Do it!" He shouted making Helen's cry even louder.

"No! Please! Please Azie no! We can still help him right? I can clean his wound!" She pleaded holding my hand.

I remained silent. I can't do this. Why does it have to be someone inside our circle? Maybe if I didn't fell asleep, no one will get bitten, right?

"Look Helen! We can't do anything!" Kaliya shouted.

"You freaking know what will going to happen once you're bitten!" Roxanne seconded. All the girls were now crying.

Fuck. Bakit ba nangyayari ang lahat ng ito?

"No! I can cure hi-" Helen was cut off when Alby suddenly collapse in to the cement.

A lump suddenly form into my throat. I know what will going to happen. I've seen it. In the school grounds and on that gas shop. Everyone knew what will happen.

"D-do it... p-please." Alby begged while looking at me. I bit my lower lip and blinked.

I stared at my hands, I can see it started to shake. No. I can't do this.

"Azie..." I look at Arius for a moment before turning it back to Alby.

"Alby..." Tawag ni Helen habang umiiyak at hawak hawak nina Kaliya at Roxanne.

"I.." My words trailed off. I don't know what to say. Nangangapa ako ng mga salitang gusto kong sabihin pero hindi ko alam kung papano.

My eyes widen when Helen took the gun out of my hand.

"Helen!"

"L-let me.." Is the only thing I heard from her before we saw her pulled the trigger and shot Alby straight to his head.
