"Here's your breakfast," she said trying hard not to look at him.
Alexander chuckled softly by her reaction. She never ceased to amuse him. The whole experience looked like a reverie to him that he had not yet broke out from. He stared at her nervous self and conflicting emotions registered on his mind. She had done it willingly but the actions she was displaying stated otherwise. It was as if she had been struck by a thunderbolt from the mid – day blue sky.
He slowly rose from his bed, his gaze never leaving hers. The breakfast was on the table waiting for him to do some justice. He strode across the room and reached for a chair. He stared at her calculatingly before he pulled another chair. "Why don't you join me. I bet you are hungry too."
Isadora looked up at him, surprised. Since when had a maid dined together with a prince. That was a grave mistake that was punishable by death. Even a lady in waiting didn't dare to do such a thing. Such a request was absolute naivety.
"Sorry to disappoint you your highness but I politely decline," she replied, bowing down deeply in a dramatical manner to avoid his gaze.
Alexander face turned cold as he gazed her way. Who did she think she was to turn down his request? Countless women were looking for this opportunity while she, a mere maid at that, was making the process more difficult for him. He would already had several women in his bed if he wanted to. But because of her, he didn't. And now this was how she was treating him!
"I didn't ask, I ordered you to join me!" He said coldly, now sounding a bit authoritative. However, he regretted it the moment she lifted her face to look at him. She was scared and her now calm body turned tense immediately. She looked at him as if staring at a monster. Alexander cursed under his breath for his stupidity. He didn't mean to scare her heart out!
Over time, he understood that bringing her closer by using his position as a prince only scared her more. This was also the case when he had ordered her around the previous day. He vowed to always make her feel comfortable around him, and not as scared as she was right now.
Isadora's wobbling legs took her forward at the order of the prince. She didn't know how but the temperatures turned chilly immediately as if he was the devil's incarnate and she knew she had to comply. The consequences seemed dire now.
On reaching where he was, she gazed at him and her face turned a few shades darker. His expression was nowhere near to the one he had earlier. Instead, a warm smile now replaced the cold expression as he pulled the chair for her. He looked like a real gentleman now.
Isadora just stared at him awed by the sudden change of behavior. She could not help but wonder if that smile was staged or real. Anyways, she sat down as he circled the table and made for his chair on the other side. They now sat facing each other.
"Are you the one who cooked this?" He asked, breaking the ominous silence that now reigned the room. Isadora just nodded faintly. She was too afraid to talk to him. She had seen how his temper alternated and didn't want to do anything to anger him.
However, this angered Alexander to the core. Was she so afraid of him that she couldn't even talk. He cursed once again for raising his voice on her.
"In that case, let me see how talented my singing bird is in cooking." He said trying to lift the sour mood in the room. And it seemed to work. Isadora was now looking down embarrassed. Alexander released a silent sigh of relief and poured tea on two cups. He handed her one and took the other.
"Perfect!" He said after taking a sip of the tea. He then raised his face and looked at her before he blutted out: "But not as sweet as you!"
Isadora blushed the nth time. Since they came at this table, he was only flirting with her from the start and showering praises on her delicacies. But he was shameless. How could he compare her to cinnamon tea! The sweetest of all! She could not help but wonder how shameless this jerk really was.
Alexander looked satisfied by his own actions. He was at least content now that she was happy. "Drink the tea," he pressed on relentlessly.
Isadora had not yet drunk her tea due to several reasons. He was flirting with her and her face was red. She feared to display it to him given that he was so shameless. On the other hand, she feared that someone would barge into the room and found her doing this. It would be catastrophic!
Alexander seemed to read her mind as she hesitated to pick the cup. It was only natural for her to be pessimistic under such a condition.
"No one is going to enter my room without my permission," he answered to her fears.
Isadora lifted her red-cheeked face and gave him a faint smile of acknowledgement. Placing her soft and long fingers on the cup, she took a sip, all the while, her gaze never leaving his.
Alexander picked a sausage and placed it before her mouth. It was truly a sight to behold! Isadora did not complain and opened her mouth, biting on the sausage. That morning, the two ate breakfast like a couple would.
"I am going to the training grounds after I take my bath," Alexander said standing up, while spoon feeding her an egg. Isadora was glad that he didn't ask her to bathe him. This guy has really changed today. She thought.
"You will carry my sword and armor to the training ground," he flashed an evil smile and headed to the bathroom.
Isadora just sat there, staring at his retreating back. This guy was indeed shameless! To give a lady such a task was simply a hell of a ride! And once again, she wondered if he was truly a gentleman. She cleared the table, anger evident on her face, and headed out to give him time to bathe.
