Emily froze as she stared at Alex. Suddenly, there was an uneasy feeling lingering in the air.

"You miss me?" Alex asked her. The smile on his face was enough to make Emily believe that he truly missed her.

Snap out of it, girl! Her mind warned her.

"Alex-"

"You've been avoiding me; I tried reaching your phone, but you haven't responded to me." He told her, even though Emily knew very well, that she had been avoiding him.

"That's because I am a married woman! I can't be hanging around with a man like you," Emily scolded him, and almost immediately, Alex's mood changed.

"Guys like me?" Alex huffed, even with a smile on his face. Emily saw the painful expression on his face.

"You know what I mean, Alex," Emily tried clarifying herself but nothing she said or did could fix what she had said.

"It's ok because I actually thought we had something."
