Emily sat in the corner of their cell in complete silence. She craved both food and water, but deep down she knew that her captor would give her none. The aim was to make both her and her mother-in-law suffer for the sins of Angelo, her husband. Perhaps the worst feeling was the feeling of unease hanging in the air, whereas both women were silent.
Emily tried her very best not to look at her mother-in-law, Bella, as she was slightly afraid that one look would force her mother-in-law to ask her questions that she was not ready to answer.
"About what Charlotte said..."
"Don't bother yourself about that; you know how she likes to turn people against each other," Emily was quick to answer, all in the aim of avoiding telling her mother-in-law the truth about how she had come to marry Angelo. Yet the entire time that she said this, she did not once dare look at her mother-in-law in the eyes.
