Get married

"Mrs Rockshire?" I gasped.

She flashed me a wry smile as she leaned away from the door and walked into the room, stepping lightly.

"There seemed to be a holdup here, so I came to see." She said.

She was dressed in a long sequin green dress, that flowed down to her heels, covering up her black stilettoes that only peered out of the hems of her dress with every step she took. She had a silver shawl wrapped around her bare upper arms, her hands from the elbow down was concealed in white lace gloves, and her lipstick was a scalding red. She looked like an actress from the nineteens, on the red carpet of an award show.

She walked up to me, maintaining the smile on her face, while I stood frozen, watching her approach. I had never been expecting to see her again. I mean, if the information Jordan had given to me were all true, then it was literally her brother's wedding day. But then, it was all sham, and worse of all, he was getting married to me. I had not expected that she would be present. Especially after what happened to her son, because of me.

"Your father is right honey." She said, flashing me a red smile as she freed her left hand of its glove, and began to wipe the tears from my face. Her hand felt so cold against my warm skin, and I shivered.

"Mrs Rockshire, I'm..." I began to say, but I had no words to express myself, so tears came streaming down my face anew.

"Shh... Shh... Shh." She said, hushing me as she gathered me into her arms briefly, then she pulled away and turned to my father. "Could you excuse us for a moment Mr Daniels? I would like to talk to my sister inlaw for a moment in private." She said.

"Oh, yes please. Take your time!" My father said, bowing eagerly as he stepped out the room. When my father had left, Mrs Rockshire led me back to the sofa.

"Here, come seat." She said helping me with my dress as I took a seat. She sat down beside me, then she grabbed a tissue from the table a dabbed the tears off my face, while patting my back.

"Mrs Rockshire, I am so sorry!" I said, finally getting my words out. "I never thought that Daren would... I am so sorry, please forgive me!" I cried.

"It's okay love. I am not here to judge you about that." She assured me. "I'm just here for you and my baby brother."

"But I can not forgive myself! If something happens to Daren, I will never forgive myself!" I cried again. "How is he? Please tell me, how is Daren doing?" I asked.

"Daren is okay. At least he is still alive, if you can call it that. He is on life support, still not out of the woods, but the doctors think there's a chance he will survive." She said to me.

"Oh my god! Oh my god, Daren! No!" I cried, bursting into tears again as I bent over in agony. "What did he do? How did he do it? Can I see him? Please, can I see Daren? Please! Just one time!" I begged desperately.

"June love, you will see him when the time is right. For now, just concentrate on being married to my brother. Do it for Daren. You don't know how much good this will do. This means a lot to me, June. It is a perfect solution." Mrs Rockshire said, gathering my hands up into hers, her blue eyes staring straight into mine.

Mrs Rockshire seemed so different from the last time I had met her. She was so soft, so warm. And I guessed that her grief had made her become so different. This broke my heart even more, and I cried again.

"I don't know how you could even bring yourself to forgive me! I still can't forgive myself, how could you do it so easily?" I cried. She smiled at me.

"Let's put all that behind us now and get married today, okay?" She said, holding up my cheeks.

"Okay." I nodded.

"Fine then, I will go get the make-up artists again to fix your face. You ruined it after all with all that crying!" She said, laughing sadly as she pinched both of my cheeks. I laughed too. "Okay, wait for me here! Let's get this wedding started! We've kept the guests waiting too long!" She said as she put on her glove and left the room.

"Guests?" I wondered aloud.

I had never imagined that we would be having guests at our sham wedding. I thought it would be only between Jordan and I, my parents, and maybe a priest. I never thought we would be having guests.

But then Mrs Rockshire had showed unexpectedly. How many more people had Jordan invited? How many more unexpected guests was I to be expecting?

Mrs Rockshire returned with the make-up artists, and they quickly fixed my make-up. Mrs Rockshire kissed my cheeks warmly and wished me luck, then she left. My father came in after she left, and I followed him to the garden door.

As I stood hand in hand beside my father, waiting for the procession to begin, I suddenly began to feel nervous again. Ever since the preparations for the wedding had began, I had not even entered the garden. I didn't want to see any of the details, I didn't care. And now, as I prepared to enter the garden, it felt like I was entering another world.

The wedding match came on, and my father gently touched my arm to signal me to begin. We had never had a rehearsal, so I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I just walked beside him, like a sheep, being led down to the slaughter house.

As I walked down the aisle, I looked around to see the guests Mrs Rockshire had referred to. There was quite an unexpected number of them after all. All my colleagues and formal friends from my old place of work were present. My manager took, Haru. So also was my manager from the modeling agency I worked at, and a number of my fellow models, even the ones I had never talked to before. Everyone in the garden was there for me, the only person on Jordan's side was his sister, and of course, two of her guards. No friends, no colleagues. As mysterious as assumed.

I looked up at the altar to find Jordan standing alone. He looked breathtaking in a shiny black tuxedo, and his silk hair was perfectly done, every strand permed together, unlike his usual look where he let it fall carelessly all over his face. He looked so handsome standing there, and for a moment, I felt my heart begin to beat in funny rapids.
