Intermission before the real show begins

Xua Ying Yue left the conference room with the report card in her hands, her sister following behind her while Lu Biya was left alone in the conference room with her father whose nostrils were flared as if he was going to start spewing fire any second now. She wanted to say that she was the one who wrote that book but before she could say anything, she saw her father getting up from the chair and suddenly became nervous as she tried to reach to hold his hand but her father dodged her attempt.

And when he turned to look at her with those eyes that were so sharp that they could cut through glass, Lu Biya could not help but suck in a breath. However, she still needed to say something, she was afraid that if she stayed silent then her father will never look at her with the same admiration with which he looked at her when she won the competition and got recognition from the leaders of the literature department.

" Dad, I——"

She began speaking but was interrupted by Lu Qin Yaozu who stared at her with cold and blank eyes that seemed to be burning with a fury that seemed to be gobbling her up as he narrowed his eyes and said, " I will ask you one last time, are you really the writer of that book excerpt?"

Lu Biya knew that her father was giving her a chance to back out of the trouble she had involved herself in but the thing was that she did not want to admit it. She did not want to admit that she could not do what Xua Ying Yue, a girl who lived in downtown in a small apartment could, she blinked her eyes and curled her lips as she wiped the guilt that was leaking out of her heart and then said, " Of course, I was the one who wrote it, dad. You can ask Headmistress Huang if you do not believe me, I was the only one who submitted the finalised excerpt, did I not, Headmistress Huang?"

She asked Headmistress Huang who was sitting silently in her seat, when the course of fire suddenly turned in her direction Headmistress Huang was spooked out of her wits but when she noticed Lu Biya glaring at her, she could only nod hurriedly like a chicken pecking rice and agree with what Lu Biya said, " She is right, Miss Lu was the only one who submitted that document."

Since they took care of the one that Xua Ying Yue submitted, Headmistress Huang was not worried that she will be in any trouble if Lu Qin Yaozu was to investigate these things and what was more, Lu Biya had all the dirt on her even the kind that can ruin her happy family.

She needed to stay with Lu Biya till the end now that she has chosen her as her benefactor.

" See?" Lu Biya turned to look at her father with a smile that showed off all her pearly white teeth. " I am not lying dad, Brother Cheng must have misunderstood me which is why he said those words."

Lu Cheng snorted at her desperate attempt to whitewash herself of all the things that she had done in the past to Xua Ying Yue. He pushed himself off the chair and then walked past his father and sister just as he reached the door, he heard his father say, " Where are you going?"

" I am going to Ren Nianzu's house," replied Lu Cheng as he turned to look at his father when his gaze fell on his sister who was still sitting in her chair and then said with a smiling face, " We need to discuss the university that we are going to chose to study in, I better hurry up or else I am afraid that I will get tripped on another pit dug for me." As he said the last words, his smile turned to a sneer as he pulled open the door and walked out of the room.

Once he was gone, Lu Qin Yaozu turned to look at his daughter and said softly, " Since you insist that you are the one who wrote that book, then I will expect nothing less from you, Biya." His eyes that were looking over his shoulders turned to look at Lu Biya as he pinned her with a gaze that made it impossible for Lu Biya to look away. " No one should. EVER.find out that you were once questioned about the copyrights, Biya. If this matter ever gets out in public, I warn you that you will never see the end of this matter, you got it?"

" I got it," Lu Biya gritted her teeth as she replied, she could see that her father did not believe a thing that she had told him just now but it does not matter, Xua Ying Yue will have to stay away from this city until she was in her sixties or seventies. Surely, everyone will forget what happened today by then, even Xua Ying Yue.

"Oh look who is leaving," Tang Jing cooed when she saw Xua Ying Yue walk out of the school. Since Tang Jing was in the plan with Lu Biya, she of course knew what happened to Xua Ying Yue which was why she pushed herself off the wall against which she was resting and then walked over to where Xua Ying Yue was standing.

Seeing her come towards Xua Ying Yue, Xua Yenay pulled her sister back but she was stopped by Xua Ying Yue who turned to look at her and said, " Sister why don't you go and stop a taxi? I will join you in a minute."

Xua Yenay did not want to leave her sister with these two girls who did not have any good intentions towards her sister.

" I will be fine, sister," Xua Ying Yue patted her sister on the back of her hand which was holding her wrist and asked her to leave her alone with Tang Jing and Su Meirong. Since she has chosen to walk down this past then she might as well prepare herself for it.
