Who is interested in who ?

Xue Yenay handed Xua Ying Yue a bowl of ginger and sugar water while grumbling under her breath, she could not understand why her sister's thoughts were getting more and more non-understandable by the day. She actually went on a run in the middle of the night, even if many people woke up at four in the morning where they used to live, this was a small countryside where people slept and woke up at a decent time, what was more there were a bunch of underprivileged people who lived here, just a few days ago she heard from Madam Tian that a family's young daughter was whisked away just because she was out of the house at eight in the night.

No one knew who stole her but everyone knew that someone sold the Su family girl off, even though a week had passed, Xua Yenay still saw the heartbroken father of the young girl looking for his daughter.

There was no such thing as street lights since most of them were broken by the naughty kids and such a setting where no one could see what was going on, gave birth to bold thoughts of many evil doers.

Only thugs and thieves who did not have anything good to do would wake up in the morning when the sky was still dark and that too in cold weather! Yet her sister went out at such an hour, what if some thug was hiding in the corner? If he captured Xua Ying Yue when she was out for a run, where will she look for her?

" Don't go out at such an hour, I am not stopping you from going out on a run but you need to understand that there are many bad men out there, have you already forgotten? The girl from the Su family, the one who was only four years old? She was kidnapped and sold," Xua Yenay tutted as she broke some eggs and then started whisking them in a bowl before adding them to the soup which was boiling on the stove. " You can go in the morning, no? When everyone is outside? It's still winter, you will look so scary and weird if someone was to see you running in such cold weather and that too in the dark."

"What's more if there are people on the streets, I will not have to worry about you."

As she spoke, Xua Yenay continued to chop the green onions to add to the rice and egg porridge. She wished she could buy some chicken and meat for her sister but her salary was not high, for the sake of saving some money for emergencies after paying off rent and everything else, Xua Yenay could only afford some eggs.

Though Madam Tian would sometimes give them leftovers, Xua Yenay could not allow that old woman to help them all the time right?

" I hate conversing with people," Xua Ying Yue stated awkwardly, in fact, she too would not have gone on a run if that little jerk did not come disrupting her good dream. Why did he even come in her dream?

The more Xua Ying Yue, the more her face turned stiff.

Xua Yenay who heard Xua Ying Yue's response was speechless. Hate talking with humans? How can she even live in this world if she starts hating others while holding conversations with them in disdain?

" You cannot be like this," Xua Yenay nagged as she placed the porridge and egg drop soup in front of her sister. " Just because you have an unhappy experience, you cannot cut off people from your world."

" Why not?" Xua Ying Yue questioned as she took a bite of her porridge while taking a sip of her soup, she raised her head and looked at her elder sister while remarking in a slow voice as she emphasised on her words, " I believe that cutting off people is a much better option than anything else, talking, befriending and forming a relationship with them would lead to hopes and desires —— and I do not trust others to fulfil those, and why should I? When I am capable of doing the same?"

As she finished speaking, Xua Ying Yue finished taking a sip of her soup and then set her empty bowls on the table while walking towards the cabinet where she picked up her bag and then walked over to the door.

Xua Yenay who watched her leave was speechless before she said, " You cannot just cut people off, Yue'er!"

" I am not cutting everyone off, don't worry elder sister," Xua Ying Yue paused as she turned to look at her sister while her hand was on the knob of the door. Her words brought immense relief to Xua Yenay but then she heard her sister say, " I will talk to them if they are beneficial for me, I will only cut only the useless one-off, will that do?" After she finished speaking Xua Ying Yue opened the door and walked out.

While a roar came from the inside, " Are you the Emperor or what? How dare you treat everyone as your eunuch?"

' How am I treating them as eunuchs?' Xua Ying Yue was helpless as she heard her sister's words. She was only cutting the weeds off not their manhood.

Xua Ying Yue rolled her eyes as she went down the stairs as she did not wish to quibble with her sister. As she climbed down the stairs, her eyes involuntarily fell on the balcony where Zou Zeming was standing this morning when she heard a jolly voice, " Little girl are you looking for my grandson?"

When Xua Ying Yue heard the voice of Grandpa Gu, she was startled as she blinked her eyes and then lowered her head to look at Grandpa Gu who was smiling at her jovially and then replied in an awkward voice, " I am not, Old Master Gu. I just——" she wanted to say something but Grandpa Gu waved his hand and then said,

"It's all right, I was just teasing you.." Old Master Gu had heard his grandson mention this girl named Xua Ying Yue so many times that he knew that it was his grandson who was interested in this girl and not the other way around which was why he could not help but become curious about this girl.
