I Don't Want To Take The Blame.

When she heard Lola mention 'money,' her heart skipped a beat; she couldn't afford anything, let alone something that would allow her to live comfortably and that's assuming she had anything to begin with. She didn't think there were any other options but she wouldn't take the chance. She didn't trust Lola.

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that; I'm leaving."

She turned and started walking away from the storage room, but Lola called out behind her, halting her.

"Not until we reach some sort of agreement!"

Amber turned around, her face determined to refuse Lola's demand, but she could already feel herself weakening.

Lola's presence alone was powerful enough to affect Amber, and Lola was aware of it. She grinned. Amber returned her gaze to Lola "Livia is my sister, and I can't betray her like this, especially since she has feelings for Santiago. I've never heard Livia express herself so passionately about someone."

"You're her step sister, right? Her parents must've adopted you," Lola scoffed.

"How do you know that?" Amber inquired, defensive but eager to hear Lola confirm her suspicions.

"Because you don't look alike, and it was just a guess," Lola explained, smiling.

"As the adopted child, you've only wanted one thing: love. But I'm guessing you never got that love. To be honest, Livia appears to have received a lot of love from her parents, whereas you... Not so much. So Livia used that against you, most likely to blackmail you and gain your support, and what did you get in return? nothing."

As Amber's resolve weakened, it was Lola's turn to smirk.

"You know you're wrong..." Amber stuttered weakly, attempting to defend her honour despite the fact that, no matter how much she protested, Lola's logic still held weight, and she would be deceiving herself if she pretended otherwise.

"There was no love in the family, but Livia was always there for me, treating me like a sister."

"Oh Amber, you look pitiful right now," Lola mockingly cooed.

"Okay, that's fine. I know you'll change your mind soon, so I'll wait until then "Lola said this before exiting the storage room, leaving Amber alone in there.

Three days later, Livia's vomiting had stopped...

Amber walked into Livia's room with a plate of fruit salad in her hand as Livia laid on her bed, scrolling through her phone. She placed the plate of fruit salad on the bedside table.

"Amber, I'd like to ask you a question..."Livia said as she placed her phone next to the plate .

Amber approached her and inquired, "What is it this time?"

"Do you think Lola is up to something?" Livia asked. Amber recalled what Lola had said to her three days ago and looked at Livia with a raised eyebrow and replied, "How am I supposed to know the answer to that question?"

"I'm not sure," Livia mumbled, pouting her lips and folding her arms.

"You were the one who said you wanted her to find out so she could file for divorce," Amber pointed out.

"Yes, I am aware, but I do not want her to have evidence... Santiago will lose everything if she does, and you know what that means. Without money, all of these luxuries will be lost " Livia replied, confidently.

"Wait, you're attempting to remove Lola from Santiago's life because of his money?" Amber inquired.

"How else would I marry a fool like him?" Livia inquired with a smirk.

' Let's see if what Lola said were true.'

Amber hesitated at first , but managed to speak,

"Then what about me ?"

"What do you mean?" Livia asked.

"When I help you with this? Will you finally grant my wish ?"

"What wish? you will just be my personal maid forever"

Amber's eyes widened in disbelief, Livia doesn't remember her wish. Amber clinched her fist tightly and glared at Livia.

"What if Lola eventually finds out everything you two have done, what will you do then?" Amber scoffed.

While nibbling on her thumb, Livia reasoned, "That won't happen, I'll make sure it doesn't happen."

"You will help me right? Amber?" Livia inquired.

Amber gritted her teeth, as her brows knitted , and did not respond.

"I'll take that as a yes," Livia laughed.

"Since we can't do anything for the time being, just keep an eye on Lola's every move."

Amber clenched her fist and said, "no, I'm not doing that, to be honest, I thought you really liked Santiago, that's why I've been helping you all along,"

Most importantly, Livia didn't even remember her wish so why should she help her.

Livia's eyes widened as she looked at Amber, and she tilted her head, asking, "Are you serious right now?"

"Yes, I'm tired of this nonsense; I'm not sure why I'm even helping someone like you," Amber mumbled.

Livia clapped her hands and laughed.

"Didn't I tell you I'm going to send you back to jail if you defile me?" Livia threatened.

"Only because I accepted the blame."

Livia paused and her eyes darkened as Amber mumbled.

"The only thing I did wrong in this life was to help you," Amber admitted with a harsh tone.

Livia grabbed the plate filled with the fruit salad and smashed it to the ground. Amber stared at her with a face filled with aghast .

Livia crouched down and took a piece of the broken ceramic into her hands. She closed her hands and tightened her grip on it making it pierce through both palm causing her blood to guts out .

Amber rushed to her side and tried to remove the broken pieces.

"Stay away from me, you said you didn't want to help me anymore, stay away, I don't need your help," Livia mumbled, but Amber wouldn't let her go.

The ruckus from Livia's room caught Santiago's and Lola's attention while they were having breakfast.

Santiago dropped his fork, jumped to his feet, and dashed towards Livia's room.

He stormed in and saw Amber holding Livia's bleeding hand. In Santiago's eyes it looked like she was trying to harm Livia but she was only trying to stop her. Livia burst into tears when she saw Santiago.

"Amber, please don't hurt me," Livia begged. Amber looked at her with widened eyes as she let go her hand . 'I knew it, she's going to blame me again.'

Santiago pushed Amber aside , took a look at Livia's hand and enquired, "Livia, what the hell happened?"

"She did this to me," Livia said, pointing at Amber.

Amber's eyes twitched as she stared at the triumphant grin on Livia's lips.

"Where are the other maids ?! " Santiago yelled, and two maids rushed in, and Santiago ordered them to stop Livia's bleeding. He stood up, grabbed Amber, and dragged her out with him.

When they arrived at the living room, he pushed Amber to her knees and called for the head maid, Lola who didn't leave the dining table watched the scene. When the head maid arrived , Santiago ordered

"Tell her to pack her bags and get the hell out of here, she's fired from now on,"

Lola's face brightened as Amber began to laugh. 'What an interesting lady, I knew she would change her mind and she even got herself fired with ease' Lola thought.

"What a foolish man you are, Mr Santiago Rodriguez," Amber mocked, glaring daggers at him. She stood up, cleaned her dress, and said, "I didn't even want to be here in the first place."

She glanced at Lola , who smirked.

Amber looked away and headed to the maid quarters.

Santiago dashed upstairs to see to Livia.

Lola stood up, dropped her fork, took her handbag, and approached the head maid.

"When Amber is out, tell her to meet me outside," Lola said, and the head maid nodded.

Amber had finished packing her belongings and had left the maid's quarters. The head maid approached her in the living room and said, "The madam wants to speak with you outside."

Amber nodded and walked out of the mansion, but as she was about to take her final stair step, a car drove ahead of her. Lola motioned for her to come in as the window slid down. Amber nodded, and the chauffeur exited the car, taking her luggage into the boot while she entered. The chauffeur also got into the car and drove away.

"I must say, you're very good at getting yourself fired," Lola said.

"Livia has been impulsive from the beginning, even from the moment she was born," Amber smirked, "I just had to say what would agitate her."

"Don't you feel bad about opposing her? After all, she is your sister. "Amber shook her head when Lola asked.

"I don't think she ever saw me as her sister, even though I did everything I could to please her; it was difficult being the adopted one." She replied, her face expressionless.

"I don't want to take the blame for her mistakes any longer, which is why I offered to help you," Amber mumbled.

"Well, I sent you the money into the new bank account i created for you and hired a taxi to get you out of the city," Lola explained, and Amber's eyes widened.

' How rich is she ? '

Lola placed a new phone in her hand and said

"I'll contact you again if I need you."

"Yes, thank you," Amber stuttered, still surprised as she stared at her new phone in awe.

"Now tell me everything, Amber," Lola said.

"Everything?" Amber asked with raised eyebrows.

"Yes, everything those two have been doing, everything about their relationship," Lola explained.

"I don't think there's anything you don't know about," Amber gulped.

"Well, Except one thing..." Amber muttered.

"And what is that?" Lola asked, looking at her.
