The Dress Is Best Suited For Who?

"I don't have time for old ladies like you," she said, looking Lola over from head to toe.

Maria's face turned pale; this young lady had just gotten herself into a lot of trouble.

"The dress is for my friend over here, she will go try it on now," Lola said, turning to face Mrs Varo.

Esmeralda eyes widened as she clenched her fist, her nails digging into her flesh.

She approached Lola and remarked, "You're ignoring me now, huh?"

"And you, Mrs Varo, or whatever you call yourself, I laid my eyes on this dress first, and I have claimed it first, so it is mine," she said, turning to point her finger at Mrs Varo.

"Mrs Varo brought this dress for my friend, and I requested it first, so it's best you look for another dress." Lola stated and crossed her arms, her temperament still calm and unshaken.

Mrs Varo interrupted the lady and pleaded, "Ms Esmeralda, please don't say anything else."

"I'm so sorry Mrs. Rodriguez, Ms. Esmeralda is sometimes like this, please forgive her," She said to Lola.

'I feel like I've heard that surname before, anyways I don't care, I just want that dress,' Esmeralda scoffed, flipping her hair.

"Who patronises your store huh? I use my popularity to help you Mrs Varo, did you forget already?" She said again to Mrs Varo.

Mrs. Varo averted her gaze and nodded, and Esmeralda smiled and continued, "OK, now give me the dress."

"It's fine, I don't need the dress, just let her have it, plus I didn't want to attend the gala in the first place," Maria said whispering the last sentence into Lola's ear as she moved to Lola's side.

"Would you look at that, your friend already knows her place, this dress wasn't made for her," Esmeralda declared, smirking and folding her arms.

Maria's brows twitched and she clenched her fist, thinking, 'Jeez, who the hell is this rich brat? I really don't need the dress but she's going too far by saying that. Should I just show her who's in charge? No, I'll have to calm down and try to get Lola out of here before things get out of hand.'

Maria drew Lola's arm and whispered to her, "Just pack up your dress and let's go, you can take Marco with you as your partner."

"Marco is my employee, and you should know he has more work to do than go to a gala," Lola replied as she yanked her hand from Maria's grasp and moved closer to Esmeralda.

Lola's eyes met Esmeralda's calmly, without fear or anger, and just as she was about to say something, the store door opened from the outside, letting in a tall, lean man in a well-tailored suit, his hands in his pockets, exuding an intimidating aura.

As he stood under the dazzling light, he swept his gaze across the room with his deep set and attractive pair of eyes, making him look mind blowing.

When Esmeralda's gaze fell on this man, she smiled and ran to him like a little child, saying, "Brother, what took you so long?"

Maria and Lola's eyes widened in surprise.

"Oh my, Mr Borbón is here," Mrs Varo exclaimed.

'Her brother is Luis? Since when did Luis have a younger sister' Maria and Lola both thought.

Luis smiled at his sister, pats her head as he looked around, his gaze falling on Lola.

Lola, who was still wearing that dress, was so beautiful in his eyes that he became distracted and almost missed what his sister was complaining about.

"Brother, can you believe these two, I definitely saw and claimed that dress first, but that woman won't give it to me." Esmeralda complained, tugging the arm of his suit.

'Now I know why she looked so familiar, they're so similar,' Lola thought.

Esmeralda Borbón, is of the age 19 and is one of the most talented and young actresses making a name for herself in the entertainment industry. How did she break into the entertainment industry in the first place? Her grandfather, Carlos Borbón, the owner of Borbón Financial Groups, made it possible because she wanted it. Her grandfather and older brother have been spoiling her since she was a child, which is why she is the spoilt brat she is today.

"Please get this dress for me, Brother," Esmeralda pleaded, pouting her lips and wrapping her arms around his arm.

He sighed and was about to respond when Lola interrupted and said, "First and foremost, your little sister appeared out of nowhere and claimed the dress I had ordered Mrs Varo to bring. Second, she had the audacity to insult both Mrs Varo and Maria and called me names."

"That's not true, I..." Esmeralda glared at Lola and clucked her tongue, thinking ' shit! this old lady'

"Is this true?" Luis inquired of Mrs Varo.

Esmeralda gave Mrs Varo a threatening look, and Mrs Varo blinked twice before looking away.

'I can't go up against Mrs. Rodriguez; Ms. Esmeralda may have assisted me in the past, but I can't mess with Mrs Rodriguez. What should I do?' Mrs Varo pondered.

"Hmm...Mrs. Rodriguez is telling the truth, she requested this dress first," Mrs Varo stated truthfully.

"No way, they're both lying, brother buy me that dress I want it please," Esmeralda erupts.

Luis raised his chin as he looked at Lola calmly, but on the inside he was laughing.

"Is that so? Okay, let's do this," He said as he sauntered over to the sofa, sat down, crossed his legs, and suggested, "Both Maria and Esmeralda will try on this dress, and whoever the dress fits the best gets to keep it, is that okay?"

"That's fine with me," Lola said.

"There's no need for that Brother, we all know it wouldn't look good on her," Esmeralda said with a proud smirk on her face.

"Esmeralda..." Luis began, But Maria intervened, saying, "she's right, Luis, there's no need for this. It definitely wouldn't look good on me" as she tried her very best not to snap at Esmeralda.

"Why are you suddenly acting all timid and shy when someone younger than you is looking down on you?" Luis asked, with a smirk as he leaned back on the sofa.

Esmeralda knitted her brows as she glared at her brother, who glared back at her before averting his gaze back to Maria and saying,

"That's not the Maria I remember."

"It's just that this dress is too expensive and extremely beautiful for me," Maria explained.

'It's not like I want to put up with his sister's nonsense; normally, I would have retaliated, but it didn't seem right, after all, it's just a dress,' Maria reasoned.

"But you're rich now, you're not struggling to make ends meet, and you've made a name for yourself as a renowned gynaecologist in the United States," He began.

"You're no lowlife and definitely not someone other people would look down on, plus you're very pretty, just like your friend," Luis added as he smiled at Lola, who glared at him before looking away.

Maria laughed and smiled, thinking, ' Luis hasn't changed one bit. '

"So I don't see why you shouldn't try it on," Luis said.

Esmeralda bit her lip and wondered, 'Does brother know these two old ladies?'

"Fine, let me try it first," Esmeralda said as she grabbed the dress and walked into the changing room.

She strutted out haughtily from the dressing room in the dress. 'Hmph, I know I look pretty,' she reflected. She waited for their compliments, but instead their expressions dimmed as they stared at her.

Luis pursed his lips and tried not to laugh, while she glared at him and gnashed her teeth together.

"What's so funny?" She screamed.

Luis sighed and pointed at the mirror, saying, "Look at yourself in the mirror."

When she looked in the mirror, what she saw made her heart sink.

The dress was not her size, it was too big for her. It did in her mind, but not in her body. Her curves were accentuated by the way the fabric draped around her shoulders.

'This dress isn't my size,' She realised as she looked down, embarrassed.

"Take it off and let Maria try it on right now," Luis said, and Esmeralda nodded slowly, clenching her fist as she entered the changing room.

She came out and handed the dress to Maria, who took it and entered the changing room.

Maria walked out shortly after, and to everyone's surprise, the dress fit her perfectly. The biege and coquettish dress highlighted her figure. Mrs Varo clasped her hands and smiled brightly, and Maria looked in the mirror and was completely taken aback.

"Wow, this dress looks amazing on me," she muttered as she twirled, admiring herself.

"That settles it, then," Luis said with a smile.

"We will take that dress, " Lola said to Mrs Varo and she nodded.

Esmeralda bit her lower lip and sat on the sofa with a sullen look, 'This is unacceptable, if I can't have that dress, no one else can,' She thought, with an evil smirk on her face.
