Chapter 14

Li Jiayi had Wu Jinjing lowered the privacy array around them, first they approached the old man for permission before they planted the grass, this was still the villagers' home and not theirs.

The old man was confused with their intentions at first and thought that there would be no harm done, it was just planting grass.

Just to be sure they went to ask permission from the entire villagers. So Li Jiayi took Wu Jinjing and Lan Jianhong to help him negotiate with the villagers, the old man also came to smooth things over for them.

Left behind were an immortal and a baby, and two cultivators.

Luo Huifang silently cursed Li Jiayi in her heart for making the whole place feel awkward. Li Jiayi's interrogation and worries came from good intentions. But the woman in green had wanted to try and pinch the baby's cheeks, now if she did that it'll be damned awkward! She still had some shame left in her bones.

Thus she made eye contact with Jin Liwei, the man was confused, she jerked her chin slightly at the child. Jin Liwei's mouth formed a small "O" he then nodded his head.

She began praising Jin Liwei in her mind, out of the six men in our group he's the only reliable man.

Jin Liwei cleared his throat. "Eldest brother, according to my calculations if you were to raise your child until she reaches Golden Core stage, you will need to spend at least five million high grade spiritual stones."

"..."

What in the ten courts of hell are you doing?!

Sweat dripped down from her forehead to her feet like the rain drops falling from the sky, she trembled in her place. What would happen when Ming Yongnian threw away his child because raising one was so expensive! The idiot Jin Liwei's tongue was too loose. She'll have one of her ghosts cut his tongue in the future.

"I see…" Ming Yongnian blandly answered.

The most earth shattering moment was not the immortal's bland answer, eldest brother is pinching his daughter's cheeks!

She also wished to pinch those cheeks!

Silently she sent a jab to Jin Liwei's throat. The man in yellow golden robes coughed and wheezed for air. "What did I do wrong?" He held his throat, struggling to speak.

Luo Huifang ignored everything and crouched in front of the child. "Eldest brother, ignore him, ignore him, no matter how expensive it is to raise a child you have to keep the little baby. Our little ancestor!"

The baby's eyes were squinted with pleasure, her mouth was sucking the milk vigorously. Ah, she looked so cute! Just imagining pinching those cheeks made Luo Huifang ecstatic.

Hand reached out for the baby's other cheeks — slap!

Luo Huifang's took back her hands, eyes widened comically.

"What are you doing?" Ming Yongnian asked, his tone normal, not a hint of coldness. But his actions spoke otherwise. Ming Yongnian looked frigid.

"I wanted to try—"

"Leave her be, she's still drinking her milk."

But you're also pinching your daughter's cheeks! Internally Luo Huifang was rolling on the ground pointing out the unfairness of it all.

She retreated to Jin Liwei's side, who finally recovered. The man sent her an obvious glare and snorted, but he was quick to forgive Luo Huifang's uncouth actions.

Then he asked, "Eldest brother, have you thought of a name?"

"Name?" The immortal blinked at them, he saw the baby's blissful face, sharing the child's content emotions. He had not thought of a name for the child. "I have not."

"It's best if you think of the child's name carefully, eldest brother, people said that a child will grow into the name we've given them." Jin Liwei told his eldest brother what he had heard from those gossiping ladies in his old sect.

Ming Yongnian only hummed as an answer, he would take his time and choose carefully for the child's name.

Luo Huifang was hyped up. "How about Lian? Ming Lian! Lian for lotus flower, it suits the child very much. She was born from a lotus flower after all."

"I'll think it over." Ming Yongnian pulled the empty bottle out of the child's mouth and sent it into his space storage.

He had stopped the rain when Li Jiayi, Wu Jinjing, Lan Jianhong, and the old man left the house, he stood up and went outside. Behind Ming Yongnian, Luo Huifang and Jin Liwei followed him like little ducklings.

Water still dripped from the roofs, there were puddles here and there. And many buckets were left out in the open, filled to the brim with water.

"They must've lacked water so much." Li Jiayi commented.

Luo Huifang chuckled. "It's like this whole village is a market, selling only water."

The villagers began to pick up the buckets they had left and carried it back home, when they went past the three cultivators they bowed their heads. Li Jiayi scratched his neck each time someone bowed.

"Do you have an… what's the word Xiaotong used, ah, allergy or something?" Luo Huifang asked.

"No it's nothing." Li Jiayi tucked both of his hands into his sleeves, his neck dusted with pink.

"My advice, grow accustomed to it Jiayi." Ming Yongnian told Li Jiayi.

"I don't think I will ever feel comfortable." Li Jiayi admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.

It dawned on Luo Huifang that Li Jiayi was not shy, he was uncomfortable. She couldn't help but frown, like all of them Li Jiayi had lived for two thousand years at most, and with his cultivation base at the Nascent Soul stage he should be no stranger to mortals bowing to him. The higher a cultivator's cultivation stage the more people will show them respect.

(The other alternative was of course to kill a high ranking cultivator in the name of conquest.)

"You told me to throw it on the ground, I'm doing exactly what you told me to do!"

Lan Jianhong's shouts distracted Luo Huifang.

"I didn't tell you to just throw it on the ground! Rake the ground first you fool!" Li Jiayi rolled his book and hit Lan Jianhong on the back of his head. The man, a book lover, who was against folding the edge of a book page to bookmark it, was actually rolling a book!

Boy, he was pissed off with Lan Jianhong.

"Just throwing the seeds around and expecting the plant to grow is a fool's errands!"

Li Jiayi's rage continued to spill over and berated Lan Jianhong, of course Lan Jianhong was not a vegetable that buried itself on the ground, he obviously fought back. "You didn't tell me to rake the ground!"

"Maybe if you allow me to finish my sentence you'll be enlightened!"

"Maybe you should've talked faster!"

These two grown up men were drawing the attention of the entire village. The Villagers were out of their houses and watched the two cultivators with great interest. These cultivators had asked for their permission to plant some grasses around their village. They thought that there would be no trouble and allowed them. Even if they did not allow them, the villagers could do nothing to stop them.

Besides if what the cultivators were attempting to do was a success they would gain a tremendous boon. Without lifting a single finger.

Though it seemed the trouble stemmed from themselves.

Luo Huifang sighed, and choked on her spit. She just saw Wu Jinjing pulling a certain bottle out. "You two if you want to keep your pride — run!" She shouted.

"Huh?" The two men ended up distracted, they were a few seconds too late to notice the bottle poured at them.

It's over…

The two drenched with the liquid felt nothing at first, there was no reaction, when they noticed that it was Wu Jinjing who had spilled something onto them, their eyes looked like it was about to jump out of their sockets.

Terrified, Li Jiayi asked, "Which potion of yours was that Jinjing?"

Wu Jinjing looked extremely proud and excited. "I call it the 'romantics'. It's supposed to make the receiver feel romance. How is it? Do the two of you feel anything?"

What did "feel romance" supposed to mean?

The two men shared a terrified expression. Their hearts oddly began to thump loudly in their chests, with their body constitution as a cultivator they could hear each other's heart beat. Blood began to rise to her cheeks, tinting their faces with a feverish blush.

Wu Jinjing!!! The two men cursed.

"Do… you have an antidote?" A burning fire spread through Lan Jianhong's chest.

"Of course not. I'm still testing it out."

It was like having their feet cut abruptly. Their tongues wanted to let loose a thousand words worth a thousand curses. Yet the two men did not. Because this was Wu Jinjing. The one person they could not show vengeance upon. A woman that would drain you off of any pride and self worth once you tempt her. Dying was the only ultimate peace.
