Chapter 24

The man sighed in defeat. "Alright, alright, we won't stick our noses into your sore spot."

Their table fell into a peaceful silence, Feng Delun ordered another three cups of tea, and a cup of water for the baby. Ming Yongnian fed the water to the baby carefully. Seeing that they were not having any further sensitive information topics, Feng Delun had dissolved the privacy array.

The crowds within the establishment, outside, and perhaps the entire city erupted with cheers of joy. The image shown in the transmission device was that of the crown prince, turned emperor, sat on the throne, on his head was the crown the previous emperor had worn.

"All hail emperor Zhen Zhihao!" This cheers echoed throughout the city.

Ming Yongnian turned to the man sat beside him. At some unknown point the man and the baby in his robes had grown close, enough for the baby to feel comfortable to play around with the man. "What are your plans?" The immortal asked.

"I haven't planned this far ahead." The man admitted.

Ming Yongnian's gaze looked towards the transmission device thoughtfully, it was showing the image of the new emperor. "Want to try and build a sect?"

Feng Delun choked on his own spit, and coughed. "Eldest brother?!"

The man was dumbfounded, and soon fell into an almost hysterical state of laughter. The patrons attention within the establishment were drawn towards their table, forcing Feng Delun to cast yet another privacy array around them.

There were even tears on the corner of the man's eyes, he wiped them with his thumb. "I have no experience with the inner workings of cultivation sects, but it sounds interesting, count me in."

"Eldest brother, are you certain?" Feng Delun was certainly not certain regarding this man.

Being acquainted with Ming Yongnian, trusting him with the information that they were building a sect was one thing. And inviting the man himself to help them build their sect was another matter altogether.

Ming Yongnian's expression was blank. "Do you have the ability to purchase every goods sold in this city?" Obviously, Feng Delun had no such ability. "He could." Ming Yongnian jerked his chin towards the man. "This way we don't need to cause a ruckus stealing the Da dynasty secret realm." The Immortal had heard the other patron's discussion.

"So that was your little sworn siblings' doing…" The man mumbled.

Of course Feng Delun found Ming Yongnian's statement to be highly exaggerated. The man's appearance did not scream the word "rich".

"No need to worry Delun, I'll pay for our sect's expenses, I'll even buy Lan Jianhong golds he could use as a building materials!" The man proudly stated.

Ming Yongnian even suggested, "Think of him as a piece of gold."

Feng Delun could only watch as their group was joined by another man with similar qualities to Jiang Xiaotong. One Jiang Xiaotong was enough to incure the wrath of the entire demon race, if this man joined, he had a feeling they would slight the entire world next. Imagining this man and Jiang Xiaotong in the same room gave him chills.

After all Jiang Xiaotong was renowned to trigger the wrath of anyone that sees him, without so much as lifting a finger!

"Now that's settled,"

Before the man could say anything any further, Feng Delun interrupted, "Although this is rather embarrassing, I have yet to learn of your name."

The man laughed in a good nature. "Hmm, since you are Nian's sworn brother, you may address me as Kaijun."

Feng Delun nodded.

"Speaking of names, Nian, what is your daughter's name?" Seeing that Ming Yongnian was quiet, the man, Kaijun, knew exactly what the answer was. "You better pick a good one, there is a saying 'a child will grow to suit the name they've been given', you best pick a good one."

"I will."

It was exactly because Ming Yongnian would be the one to think of a name that worried Kaijun more, ah, it seemed Feng Delun shared his worries. Ming Yongnian's naming sense was unique to himself.

"Then, why do the two of you found yourselves drawn into the beautiful city of Dongfu?" Kaijun asked. "Since you're an iceberg and a recluse Nian, you arriving here on this day of coronation was merely a happy coincidence! But you always came out of your cave for good reasons."

"Eldest brother came here because his child had asked him to visit and stroll around the city." Feng Delun explained. And to summon his child's other parent, he whispered in his heart.

Ming Yongnian pinned Feng Delun with a stare, his fingers poked his daughter's cheeks.

"Ah!"

Kaijun quirked his brow, the corner of his lips hooked. "I never took you as the type to be slaved around by your child, once you become a father."

"I'm not." Ming Yongnian glared.

But Kaijun only grew more excited. "If not then let's say that you did come here to take a stroll around the city, was the only purpose to only stroll around? Or was it to eavesdrop?"

Feng Delun chuckled. "Eavesdropping is important, especially after I and my fellow brothers and sisters caused such a ruckus. I feel reassured when I know what our former sects had to say."

"You're incredibly honest, I like that." Kaijun seemingly praised, but then he gave Ming Yongnian a wide smirk. "Unlike a certain someone who never admits things outrightly."

Ming Yongnian coldly returned Kaijun's remarks with a glare.

But Kaijun was rather immune towards Ming Yongnian's coldness, and stood up from his chair. "You're here to take a stroll, then allow me to be your guide, there's no one else better than I to show you around. This is my city after all." He winked. "Your little baby seemed like she can't wait to see the city."

"Ah!"

"I know you are! Let uncle introduce you to some of the best scenery in this city. If today wasn't the coronation I would've taken the three of you into the palace… but a firework show tonight will suffice as a compensation!"

Feng Delun thought to himself, when did eldest brother's child get close to this man?

Kaijun led them out of the establishment, not forgetting to pay the servant for their tea and congee, and out to the crowded streets once more.

As the capital city, Dongfu, was the center and heart of the Zhen Empire. Obviously things in this city were of the highest quality, from the buildings to the items sold and provided.

Kaijun led them to the river that flows throughout the entire city, the surface of the water seemed to glitter in the sunlight. The river was wide enough to accommodate shanban boats, some boats were filled with vegetables, another with fruits, another with passengers.

Kaijun hopped onto a shanban boat resting by the riverside, he saw an old man asleep in the boat, he lightly tapped the old man's leg. "Old man, old man, wake up, you have a customer."

The old man shot up flailing his hands, when he saw it was Kaijun, the old man didn't hesitate to take off his sandals and hit Kaijun in the face with it. "You rascal! You dare step foot on my boat again?! Shameless! Shame—" The old man gulped down his words as his eyes landed on Ming Yongnian and Feng Delun.

No matter how one would see both Ming Yongnian and Feng Delun, they were the epitome of the word "otherworldly immortals" to those who saw them. Though the baby hanging from Ming Yongnian's lapels toned down his presence by an inch.

The old man slapped Kaijun hard in the face with his sandal one last time, the crisp sound of skin meets sandal was loud and clear. Kaijun remained passive, not showing the slightest bit disgruntled, there were no red marks left on his face.

The old man abruptly dropped his sandal he was holding, hastily putting it on. An embarrassed smile crept up his face. "Immortals! Forgive me for the poor display this," The old man sneaked a not so secret kick to Kaijun. "fool likes to run his mouth."

"I said nothing." Kaijun tried to defend himself, but the old man hit him again.

"Shush!" The old man's face quickly changed and glared at Kaijun, then it turned all mellow and sweet once he faced Ming Yongnian and Feng Delun once more. "Come on board, take a seat."

Feng Delun coughed into his fist and sat down on the boat. While Ming Yongnian remained passive, boarding the boat.

The baby though was flailing her hands. "Ah, ah!"

"Ohh, little girl aren't you excited! Well all children love boat rides, I remembered my son almost drowned in the river once when he got too curious looking at the water, he almost slipped into the river if I hadn't caught him on time. He was crying the entire way back home. Each time I mentioned the story his face still reddened like a tomato." Kaijun recalled.
