Chapter 46

"This Lord heard Lai Meihui was a true beauty and no woman could compare her both in appearance and personality. But it seemed they were blind. Instead of a fairy, she's more of an ape."

Lan Jianhong chackled. "Meihui is only a 'lady' when she wants to perform dual cultivation. When she doesn't want to, like you said, she's an ape."

"Jianhong…" Came Feng Delun's warning.

"Yes Elder brother, I'm not picking a fight. Anyway, Meihui can't hear me."

Ming Yongnian eyes landed to one spot behind Lan Jianhong.

The cultivator in blue robes's eyes widened then he fumbled to stand up. "Oh, shit!"

Lan Jianhong jumped, but a slender hand grabbed him by the neck. "Ah'Jian…"

"Urkh, eldest brother, why can she hear us?" Lan Jianhong flailed in Lai Meihui's grip.

"I never said she couldn't." The Immortal shrugged.

Tian Mengshen never thought that the righteous sects' great Venerable would be one honest man. So honest was Ming Yongnian that he would not bat an eye at throwing people over to a stampede.

"Noooo! Meihui I didn't say anything!"

"Lies!"

"Alright I did call you an ape—! But so did Mo Huijun!" Lan Jianhong tried to drag the Devil Venerable into a pit with him.

"Oh, I do not recall you having the courage to call me by my name." The Devil Venerable was amused.

Lan Jianhong had feared the Devil Venerable since the man had arrived. Lan Jianhong was so afraid that he wouldn't refer the Devil Venerable with his given name, while the rest had begun calling the Devil Venerable by "Mo Huijun". Now Lan Jianhong had forgotten his fear.

At some point his Shifu and the rest of the cultivators who were outside came into the house. Their purpose, to watch Lai Meihui throw a fit.

Lai Meihui glared at Mo Huijun. For a moment Tian Mengshen saw a flash of red. She wanted to strangle the Devil Venerable too, obviously. But did she have the strength to do so? Unfortunately or fortunately she did not. So she settled for the very best next thing. Torturing Lan Jianhong. "I'll deal with him later!"

The angered woman began dragging Lan Jianhong out of the house. Lan Jianhong did not go along with Lai Meihui easily. He tried pulling himself away from Lai Meihui's grip. Even going as far as attempting to claw the wooden floor. But all was for naught. As the door of the house closed everything returned to its once serene moment.

Mo Huijun slowly turned to Ming Yongnian. Pointing at the door the Devil Venerable asked, "Do such theatrics happen often?"

Ming Yongnian returned the Devil Venerable's question with a blank look on his face.

"I shall take your silence as a positive answer."

Tian Mengshen learned so many things while living among these cultivators. The most important thing. How to live one's life as one wished. These were a group of people who embody the word "as one wills it".

Cultivators rarely eat, if ever, especially cultivators of high cultivation base. Eating was merely a waste of resources and time. Yet these people seemed to enjoy eating little finger foods. In contrast with the Devil Venerable who had eaten nothing for the entire week since his first arrival in this house.

Cultivators like his Shifu who were nearing or within the final layers of cultivation tended to seclude themselves and focus on breaking through. Clearly his new Sect Elders (he was guessing that the nine cultivators will become the Elders, and the Golden Crowned Lord the Sect Leader.) were happy enough to roll around the ground like a gratuitous house cat. Not all of them acted like a gratuitous house cat.

Tian Mengshen almost felt sorry for the future disciples the Sect will welcome. He had a feeling they would not be learning how to "cultivate" but instead how to do "as one wills it". Become an equivalent of a house cat. With claws, no ambition.

His eyes landed outside of the window on the lush grass field stretching into the distance. A vast sea of grass green fields. A week ago it was merely little buds of green. Now, with the rain provided by the Golden Crowned Lord, the grass has gained its vitality and grown an inch taller.

He deduced that it shouldn't be a normal grass. Then again Tian Mengshen could be wrong and it was an ordinary grass. He had failed to comprehend these cultivators' line of thought. And he was on the verge of giving up altogether.

All of the cultivators -- except for the Devil Venerable -- believe that planting an entire realm with grass will help restore the realm's vitality. Its life blood, spiritual energy.

Tian Mengshen was rather curious if the results will meet the expectations. He could not say that it was impossible to restore a realm's spiritual energy with only grass. But this was only because no one was foolish enough to try. If it works, this will change the world. Even the heavens will send their envoys to the mortal realm to study this case.

In his heart he scoffed. Those immortal cultivator gods were to likely return to the mortal realm and come into touch with "mere mortals". The shame they will feel, Tian Mengshen could only imagine their embarrassment.

Still, Tian Mengshen wondered what his Sect will do next now that they have covered a part of the realm with grass.

They opted out of the option of covering the entire realm with grass. Jin Liwei was the one who put forth the suggestion. In case their "planting the realm with grass plan to restore spiritual energy" did not go as they planned they would spend less of their savings. Compared to planting the entire realm with grass.

Now all of them were waiting for the results. But for how long? He was not privy to that information. His Shifu had only said that they were waiting for Li Jiayi's verdict.

It seemed that someone else shared Tian Mengshen's question.

"Li Jiayi, how much longer must we wait?" Jie Qiqiang was the one who asked the question.

All of them seemed to have recovered from Lai Meihui's fiasco. Something similar had happened in the past for these people to brush it off so easily.

"A month." Came Li Jiayi's flat reply.

A calculative reply came from Jiang Xiaotong, "That's too long. The grass has already grown a full inch. If we wait any longer… It'll be a waste of time."

"A month's wait is short Xiaotong." Li Jiayi looked at Jiang Xiaotong with exasperation.

Jiang Xiaotong argued, "In a month our little ancestor would already be crawling around the place!"

"Babies can't crawl that fast." Kaijun interceded. Then the man spent a whole second staring at the baby that was hung upside down. "Maybe if it was Xiaobao she'll be able to do it."

Well the baby did not look all too ill after being hung upside down for hours.

Unfortunately Kaijun's words gave a certain Devil Venerable an idea. "Then this Lord shall train the child diligently."

"Mo Huijun, leave my daughter be." Ming Yongnian tirelessly reminded the Devil Venerable.

"Ah!" To translate the baby's words, she wishes to "train" her father instead.

Kaijun, who understood what the baby was saying, sweated. "My little niece is turning into a sadist." The man lamented.

Though the same could not be said for Ming Yongnian. The Immortal who could feel his daughter's feelings felt rather proud that his daughter wanted to kill the useless existence of the Devil Venerable.

Li Jiayi decided not to touch whatever conversation that only his eldest brother, Kaijun, and the Devil Venerable understood. It was dangerous for him to join them so he focused on Jiang Xiaotong's complain. "A month's wait is not long Xiaotong. Remember that we are not mortals."

Sensing the underlying meaning, Tian Mengshen picked apart Li Jiayi's words. The way Li Jiayi worded it, it seemed that Jiang Xiaotong's way of calculating time was similar to that of a mortal. Why?

Jiang Xiaotong's eyes grew sharper. Though there was no sign that the man found Li Jiayi's words offensive or jabbing. "Look," He pointed at the window, "the grass grows fast, in a month, judging by how fast the grass is growing. It would be high enough to touch our knees. We can't just sit down, wait, and plan out our next plan when plan number one is a step away from being completed. We have to plan it out now." Jiang Xiaotong not so subtly met Ming Yongnian's eyes.

The Immortal was also considering Jiang Xiaotong's words. "There is nothing wrong with making a plan ahead of its actual day of planning. This way if it were discovered that executing the next plan early may bring more benefits, we could act faster."

Sighing Li Jiayi said, "You're making it sound like I haven't planned anything, I have and I would like to do that but…"
