Finally discharged ?

Subsequently the doctor told Max some more details about himself. Some of these, Max already knew beforehand while some he didn't as his memories were still a little bit messy. Thus it was very helpful for him to understand his situation.

"When we checked your past records, we found that you're an orphan with no close relatives or friends. "

While saying these words, the doctor never took his eyes off of Max.

No father, no mother, no wife or even friend, such words are obviously very irritating. Let alone to a mentally ill person, even if you say this to some healthy individuals, they will also be so irritated.

However, contrary to his expectations, Max didn't react very much except for a slight frown, which at least proved that at this moment, this guy's mental state was relatively stable.

"So, I'm mentally ill, is that it?"

Max asked for confirmation.

"To be more precise, you are a schizophrenic patient."

The doctor responded:

"You have imagined a virtual personality for yourself on top of your original personality. And sometimes this other personality of yours has a tendency to overwhelm the original personality which leads to your mental outbreaks. And in severe case, this other personality of yours might even completely replace your original personality."

Hearing this, Max felt a little uneasy:

"So according to you doctor, 'Max' is likely to disappear after waking up one day, and be completely replaced by that this [Max 007] ?"

"That's what it means "

The doctor said affirmatively.

"Actually, since you have not been able to recover and differentiate between your two identities in the past few months even after treatment, thus I had already lost hope for you. But miraculously....."

Speaking of this, the doctor looked at Max again.

"But judging from your current state, it seems that your condition has improved a lot."

Max nodded in understanding. In fact, after listening to the doctor's explaination, he already had a preliminary idea of what's going on with him. It's most likely that he transmigrated into this world after the original owner of this body died. But since his soul couldn't immediately adapt to this new body and new world, it led to the current situation as mentioned by the doctor where his past life and current life memories collided with each other. And although he had completely adapted to this new body now but he still knew next to nothing about this other world. Thus after deliberating for a while, Max decided to go with the flow for now.

"Alright Max, "

At this moment, the doctor seemed to have suddenly remembered something. He stood up slowly, walked to the bookcase next to him and began to search. After a while, he pulled out a stack of papers, and then sat back on the chair again.

"Now I'll ask you some questions, try to answer them truthfully."

"Is this a questionnaire to test whether a patient suffers from a mental illness?"

Max asked with a raised eyebrow. He still knew about this thing, after all, he was a doctor in his previous life.

"Yes, this is the MMPI Minnesota multiple personality Identification test. Since there have been cases of patients with schizophrenia who suddenly showed signs of improvement, I think it is is the case with you too. But to be sure about it, it is necessary to do this test again for you."

The doctor explained with a smile.

"Re-do it? You mean I have done this before? "

Max asked back.

"Of course, you did it three times during the past few months of your hospitalization."

The doctor replied with a nod.

"How about my grades?"

Max asked curiously.

"Every time your grades are getting worse, and the last time test results can be defined as [severe schizophrenia]."

The doctor said earnestly and at the same time did not forget to glance at Max again with suspicion and caution.

Max sighed helplessly after hearing this, signaling him to stop talking and start the test.

The Minnesota Multiple Personality Test is the most authoritative among the different mental illness questionnaires.

Depression and anxiety, schizophrenia, hypochondria, hysteria, delusions, psychosis, etc., almost all these conditions have corresponding test methods. Moreover these tests are very cryptic and do not ask very obvious questions. Instead they ask the questions in a round about way.

For example, "Have you ever fantasized about killing a cat?" This kind of direct question will never appear in this questionnaire. Correspondingly, there will also be some questions that you don't even know why they are asked.

For example:

[Do your hands and feet often feel very warm? ]

[3, 10, 15, 22, which of these four numbers do you prefer? ]

These questions occupy a huge space of the questionnaire and are only there to confuse the patient, so it is difficult for the respondents to hide their true thoughts.

Time passed by every minute and every second, and the sunlight outside the window gradually faded. By the time Max finished answering the last question, it was almost dark outside.

The doctor sorted out the questionnaire in his hand and began to calculate the scores.

"Sigh! "

After a long time, the doctor let out a long breath with an unusual look on his face.

"How is it doctor?"

Max asked tentatively.

"From this set of questionnaires, well -- you no longer meet the diagnosis of schizophrenia."

The doctor raised his head to look at Max who was still tied to the chair and spoke hesitantly.

Max's anxious heart also lightened and he finally calmed down a little.

"Does that mean that I am no longer mentally ill and can be discharged from the hospital?"

The doctor hesitated again after hearing this question.

"Well technically yes, but according to the official procedure, you need to complete at least three tests, plus a two-month observation period. You must no longer have any signs of recurrence before you can be discharged from the hospital."

"At least two months?"

Max gasped in surprise.

"Yes, this is the rule."

The doctor said solemnly, but then he suddenly changed the subject:

" But you belong to a special situation."

He raised the test question in his hand:

"As long as this one test questionnaire can prove that you are mentally healthy, then you will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow."

"Are you serious?"

Max was taken aback, he did not expect happiness to come so suddenly .

"Of course, I have no reason to lie to you."

The doctor responded a little unnaturally.

"Thank you so much!"

Max said a little excitedly.

"Oh! "

The doctor didn't respond and looked a little uneasy.

"But...you just said that I belong to special circumstances, what's going on?"

Max suddenly had a bad premonition seeing his strange reaction and asked in a low voice.

"This....."

The doctor pondered for a while and continued after finally making up his mind.

"Your case is special because as long as it can be proved that the prisoner is not mentally ill, then the execution can be carried out according to the normal procedure."

"Huh? "

Max was stunned at the spot hearing this as one thousand alpacas rampaged in his mind.

.........

The next day, a police car stopped at the gate of the mental hospital. Under the escort of two police officers, Max was roughly pushed into the police car. During the whole process, Max had a black hood on his head, and his hands and feet were shackled.

Just like what the doctor said yesterday, Max was indeed discharged from the hospital. But immediately after being discharged from the hospital, he was sent to prison.

Sitting in the prison car, Max couldn't calm down for a long time as different thoughts entered his mind.

Compared to the glorious reincarnators in the novels, his rebirth was almost like a joke. As soon as he was reborn, he found that he was a mentally ill patient. But immediately after he got himself discharged from the mental hospital, he found that he was actually a death row prisoner. It's almost like out of the pan and into the fire.

Max didn't know if being reincarnated was his good luck or bad luck. First he was hit to death by a truck in his last life and then just days after being reincarnated he was going to be executed. What the hell is the difference between this and just remaining dead in the first place? It would be better to die happily in the first try without facing death twice.

But unfortunately, he had no control over fate and could only follow what was in store for him.

Shortly after Max finished the "Minnesota Multiple Personality Test" yesterday, the two policemen outside the door came in.

Max naturally tried his best to explain himself, but no one paid any attention to him. In the end, he even tried to reveal his true identity in desperation so that his life can be saved by saying ,

"I was just reborn! I don't have anything to do with whatever this Max did before.!"

Even these 'cosmic secrets' have been revealed by him, but it was of no use.

The only good thing that came out of it and made Max feel relieved was that he probably understood the ins and outs of the matter during the conversation between the police and the doctor.

"This way, at least I can die understandingly. Bah! Bah! "

Max said with a soulless look on his face.

Anyway, what happened was roughly like this:

The original Max was actually a murderer and he was already sentenced to death for his crime. But just four months ago, he was suddenly diagnosed with mental illness. The laws of this world are similar to those of the world before Max's rebirth. It is a particularly troublesome thing to convict a mentally ill person.

Although everyone thought that Max was pretending to be mentally sick and wanted to escape punishment through this method. But there was nothing they could do about it, the hospital diagnosis clearly stated that he was mentally ill.

In desperation, the police could only transfer Max to a mental hospital.

In the following period of time, Max's illness really got worse and worse. According to this trend, he might really have been able to hide in the hospital for a lifetime.

But they never expected that Max suddenly realized his consciousness yesterday and stopped pretending anymore. As for the reason, nobody cares.

In short, Max no longer has the protection of the status of a mentally ill patient, so the punishment can be executed as scheduled.
