The Trickster's Heir, Part 2

A second later, I heard the chiming of a notification, which was weird because I didn't bring my status bar to Asgard. 

'Ping!'

There it was again. Weird. 

Of course, I was so mesmerized by the emerald serpent wrapped around my finger that I didn't realize right away that Odin was no longer beside me. 

'Ping!'

More importantly, it wasn't so dark anymore.

'Ping!'

"Huh?"

I blinked—and then the darkroom I'd just been in was gone like it had been washed away from my vision by the return of color, and I was once again seated on my stone mat in a dark corner of the Hall of Enlightenment.

"There and back again," I whispered. 

The thing was, I was certain that I didn't daydream any of it. The shiny emerald ring on my finger gave that away. 

Behind me, I heard, "What did you do this time, kiddo?" 

I glanced over my shoulder.
