After Volkov went to the toilet, Daniel excused himself and wanted to go into the warehouse and see if there was enough space for him to actualize the "Mana Refinery" and "Hourglass of Eternity".
Both of these artifacts need a lot of space to place and he still needs to see if the warehouse roof was enough to cover them. If not, he needs to renovate it and might need to expand downward and build a secret basement.
Daniel was about to walk into the warehouse along with James who followed him not far behind. Suddenly, James shoved Daniel to the side and quickly stood between his master and the danger he sensed.
Blood, muscle, and bone fragments spurt out of James's chest as he dropped to the ground on one knee. Daniel was startled, he quickly checked on James' injury and saw a large maggot gnawing at James's chest as it buried itself into James's body.
"Grrh!" James let out a painful grunt and stabbed his hand into his chest where his injuries are and dug out that maggot along with his flesh.
James crushed the maggot along with his flesh before his body started regenerating at a slower rate but it is still the rate that could be noticed with the naked eye.
James then roars and transforms into a Werewolf once again. His wolf nose sniffed a few times before he lash out at an empty space about ten meters opposite of him and swipe at that exact spot.
The empty space is distorted and a man in a transparent robe appears from that empty space as he tries to evade the deadly swipe.
Unfortunately, James was affected by his grave injury and that caused his speed to drop. His sharp claws can only destroy that man's robe.
Seeing that his enemy had evaded his attack, James tried to follow up but instead, all of his strength vanished and he fell down to the ground face first, failing to finish what he started.
In his body, James felt like something preventing him from regenerating, and this only happened when he got poisoned by a very lethal poison. He gathered the little strength he had left and spoke.
"My lord… run!" James warned his master who was standing behind him without fear.
"A werewolf? You even have a werewolf serving you Mr.Magitek?" A man in a transparent robe inquired.
Then the transparent on the assailant's robe fluctuates a little before it disappears entirely and only becomes a normal black robe. The man noticed this and immediately tore off his black robe revealing black body armor that looks like light Kevlar armor but Daniel bet that it was not regular Kevlar armor.
"But no matter, His Majesty Victor Justius wants you dead for your transgression upon his properties for the past 4 days, but since you are a master Artificer, His Majesty Justius is ready to pardon your transgression if you enter his service." The man said his offer with confidence.
At first, he plans to use the poison in the maggot to blackmail this Master Artificer but since that maggot had already been destroyed he tries to dupe the man instead.
Once this master Artificer was surrendered, his master king Justius had plenty of methods to brainwash this master artificer and make him work wholeheartedly for the royal family.
"Pardon? You want me to work for that low life? You're not very good at doing your homework, aren't you? I think I made myself clear during these past 4 days that I hate the Tessia royal family. Is the human language too advanced for you? I can't speak dog language, you know." Daniel retorts back.
This is not the first time that the Tessia Royal family tried to rope him in after they knew that he had the skill of a master artificer.
"You damnable outlaw mage!" The assailant roars in anger and waves his hand and a small maggot appears through that man's skin, Its mandible and six legs quickly weave its web into a symbol.
Boom!
A firebomb suddenly exploded right onto Daniel, the flame consumed his whole body. The heat wave could be felt even where Ardito is standing from more than 100 meters away.
At that moment Ardito felt like his whole world was crumbling. If Mr.Magitek was killed then he and his family would be the royal family's target! He felt a little bit of regret right now but then he saw a black silhouette standing amidst the sea of intense flame.
Daniel was still standing, his hand crossing behind his back, his face was the epitome of cold and unfeeling. His eyes looked at the assailant with emotionless eyes as if looking at roadside pebbles, there was a tinge of displeasure and disgust within those eyes.
Inside Daniel's mindscape, Daniel just uses one of his quick spells on himself.
Card: Shield of Faith
Picture: The picture of a man standing against a lich that cast a fireball on him and the flame dispersing into thin air once it touches his light shield.
Rarity: Common
Type: Quick Spell
Mana Cost: 1 Light
Description: The target creature has [Indestructible] until the end of the turn.
Flavor text: None of your dark magic can harm the shield of our faith!
After thorough experimentation and fighting against other mages during these past 4 days, he had finally mastered how to use his card to fight against the other mage.
Since his body is both the player and creature in one, the spell that targets the creature also works on himself. For example, the card that he just used. This means, in the following 1 hour after he used this card, even a nuclear explosion on his face pointed blank. He won't feel a thing and it will not even leave a wrinkle on his cloth.
"Was that maggot your Insignia? Disgusting, as expected of the people serving that human scum." Daniel asked in disdain.
One other thing he had learned during these past 4 days, is that when a mage fights, they will cast their spell with their insignia.
The insignia is a very important tool for a modern-day mage. Insignia is a manifestation-given form of the spell each mage is going to use. For example, when using a basic fireball a mage needs the insignia that could manifest the fireball spell.
It sounds like the insignia was just a magic circle with extra steps, but no, it may sound like it's the same thing but in nature. it is not.
The magic circle is like a very strict pattern one needs to follow when one wants to create something or wants something to happen. For example, one can not walk without legs.
Yes, in the modern day, people can go into a lot of places without their legs, for example, they can use a wheelchair or they could just use a taxi or ask someone to bring them somewhere.
But the process of "Walking" can not happen without legs. That is how strict and inflexible the magic circle is.
The modern-day mage will only use a magic circle when they need to do precise control on some experimental magic or large-scale magic that is easy to go wrong or undergo a ritual that requires absolute perfection such as, a demon summoning or making a contract with a devil.
Whilst the insignia is like how to go to a park regardless of the method. You could walk, run, drive, or even crawl on all four. As long as you can reach a park the process doesn't matter.
That is the Insignia.
Also, the Insignia could amplify and create diverse effects and are much harder to interrupt. Because each insignia was unique for each mage and each clan.
They might look the same but inside that Insignia, there are hundreds upon hundreds of encryption of their spell and how it works.
For example, an insignia that looks like a lion head but can cast spells from a simple fireball to create a wind blade that could cut steel in one attack. It can even add a "Homing" function to the fireball or wind blade.
As long as there is a homing function prepared within that Insignia. They could just activate "Fireball" and "Homing" at the same time, which results in a Homing Fireball.
The assailant glared at Daniel, his face contorted in anger, he didn't believe that his full-power spell could not do anything to the man in front of him. Isn't this outlaw mage just an Artificer?
Which Artificer was good at fighting? He thought.
"You! You damn outlaw! I'm a Master rank mage! Even some enforcers from the Hightower still need to give me some respect!" The assailant roars and the anger reaches its peak.
"Why are you so sure? Are you sure that you are not confusing the basic manner with respect? That would be a real shame." Daniel sneered, he didn't plan on giving a shred of respect to anyone that worshiped the royal family. At all.
