A Bet

The fire blaring on the background, the heat could be felt all over. There is the neigh of horses, the red eyes of the fierce warriors and the spears, bows and arrows pointed toward that man

But there is not even a single shred of fear in the eyes of this man.

Garron was surprised.

He had seen many people. And he had seen many warriors. Some also look at death like their home, they did not fear it

But there is a certain madness to it. In the end, humans are humans.

While some tribe decided to think themselves as invincible when they fight in a battle, and they tore off any thought about death, they still know that they could die. So, when they fight for their life, there is a certain madness to it.

But this man has no madness in his eyes. There is confidence in those eyes. This is not a death road for him. That is what this person believes.

Garron always trusted his eyes. And he trusted his intuition. He looks around the area and see his dead warrior.

He did not feel much. Each warrior is ready to die in battle.

It is for his warriors and it is the same for him. It is something everyone understood.

'Who are you and why have you intruded this place? This is now the area of the Xewa tribe'

Garron wanted to know the identity of this person. Could this person not have known that this area is Xewa tribe area?

Even though Xewa tribe is not a large tribe, the fact that they are expanding their area and begin recruiting warriors shows that they are trying to become a large tribe around this area.

Aeryon look at this middle-aged man and try to recall anything about this person.

However, he did not find anything in the memory of Aeryon. Aeryon in the end, did not venture much outside the area of his tribe.

'I am Aeryon the Son of Rakarys, the tribe leader of the Brolgadhr. Hearing my name, must give you thought on why I come here'

Garron listening to the name of this young man and the name of tribe could not help but widen his eyes.

'He returned?' he thought in his mind

It seems that this man is the tribe leader of that tribe.

But from what he understood, after the old chief of this tribe had died, the son assumed the leadership and then goes to the Northern pass?

That is the news he had received and it was for this reason that the Xewa tribe did not pursue them

Once again, he looks at Aeryon with new interest. Around him and behind him, all the soldiers have all gathered around this area

Aeryon is now surrounded by hundreds of men but he still stands there straight, his eyes and his expression show no fear at all.

Instead, there is even a trace of anticipation of the battle to continue.

Who would have thought this tiger cub returns back here? And he announces his return in such away.

Garron then said

'You intend to take back your tribe area?' Aeryon nodded.

Garron snorted and spoke

'Do you think my warriors are stones on the side of the road? You think you could win?' He knows this tribe.

Brolgadhr is a large tribe in the past.

But after a few battles with competing tribe, they slowly decline and their large area is carved up by many of the other small tribes.

In the past, the Brolgadhr tribe is also one of the large tribes in the Great Steppe.

Their area is from the vicinity of the Northern Pass to the Straight Hills area that separates the Far North

The great Steppe is very large and while some Yan people called the lands of the Great Steppe as the Great North, the Great Steppe tribes have their own way of calling the regions of the Great Steppe.

The area around the Northern Pass of Yan is actually considered the Far South.

The Great Steppe is a land of flat plains but there is one exception.

On the middle of the Great Steppe, there is a series of hills. It is not too tall to call a mountain and not too small to call a bump.

This hill stretches horizontally all over the Great Steppe

The Ashana of many tribes says it is made by a great magician of great power in the past.

Some said it is the gods.

Whatever the true origins of these hills, it divided the Great Steppe.

Since it is a hill, it is not that hard to traverse and it is the only place in the Great Steppe that has such hilly environment.

There is also forest around this hill and most of the timber and wood and fruits is usually taken from this area making the area of the Central Steppe a place of contention

When you think about it, it seems that Brolgadhr tribe must have been a great tribe in the past.

For a tribe that big, one could only wonder how any people under their commands in the distant past

But that is the past. And not the present.

From what Garron knows the Brolgadhr tribe only have around fifty horse riders and while they have a few hundred people, most of them could not fight

Even if they forcefully fight, there is not many great warriors in Brolgadhr tribe.

Other than Belarion, the famous strongman of the Brolgadhr tribe most of the people of the Brolgadhr tribe is insignificant and weak.

That is the general idea among the tribes around here

The Xewa tribe Chieftain even have the idea to recruit the famous Belarion.

If not for the fact that the son of Rakarys is the sworn brother of Belarion, the Xewa chief would lavish all kinds of gifts to woo Belarion to enter the Xewa tribe.

Aeryon heard the mockery in that person tone. But instead of getting angry, he smiles. Then he pointed his sword toward that person

And then with a smile, he said

'Then continue to fight'

The scene shocked everyone. Even the warriors of the Utgard tribe , even though they stand on different side could not help but admire this young man bravery

Heroes are admired in any tribes

Garron thought for a moment and then asked

'You think you could win?'

'I know I could win' he said. Then without delaying he simply said

'There is no need for so much talk. If you want to kill me, I am here. Let's fight till the end and you will see whether what I said is right or wrong.' Aeryon did not have time.

In any other situation he would be glad that there is someone that he could negotiate with

But now, now is not that time.

The cards have time limit. The more he wastes his time here, the smaller the chance for him to complete the mission.

Garron looks at the fire that is spreading and he looks at his warriors that have died and then look at Aeryon.

In his mind, there is all kinds of calculations in his mind.

'Should I bet on this kid? Should I not bet?' this is the thoughts in his mind. He thought for a few seconds, and spoke

'Will you not stop if I gave you a chance to stop now?'

Aeryon did not have much time to waste so he simply shook his head

One could see form his gesture that he is impatient. Such action also arouses the fighting spirit of the Utgard warriors.

This young man is powerful and he sems to be looking down on them

Garron then said

'My name is Garron the Son of Fareon from the Utgard tribe. I and my tribe have no blood feud with the Brolgadhr tribe'

'You exercise the will of the Xewa tribe. That means you are my enemy'

There was silent for a while. Even though Aeryon is alone for some reason, it felt like they are facing an army

A one man army.

Even now, being surrounded by hundred of warriors, his demeanour did not change.

Was it because he is arrogant?

Or does he really believe that he could defeat all of these warriors?

Could it be that there is some kind of trap here?

Everyone could not help but think of such thing, unable to understand why such a lone person is so confident and so unfearful of death.

Fearless in front of death is a trait shared by every warrior of every great tribe.

But to be confident as this person, believing that he would truly win…. this is not something that garron and his personal warriors and the warriors that surrounded him could understand.

'Even if you take this area, the Xewa tribe will come for you'

Aeryon laughed and shouts

'Let them come!'

He shouted the words and the force stunned Garron. Garron narrowed his eyes, close his eyes and then he thought to himself

'Why not bet?' Garron was thinking of making a very risky bet. But for some reason, he could not help but believing this person.

He had trusted a person for even less so why not bet

Why not?' he ask himself

Garron nodded and then said

'Then we will retreat'

'Alright. Let's fi-…Wait, what?' The answer shocked Aeryon and even the warriors of the Utgard tribe

'Chief?'
