As Nova read the riddle on the ancient scroll, he furrowed his brow in thought. The words seemed to hint at something important, but he couldn't quite grasp their meaning. He read it over and over again, trying to decipher the cryptic message, and it felt like The words seemed to dance before his eyes, taunting him with their meaning which made Nova quite frustrated.
"This is ridiculous!" he exclaimed, throwing up his hands in exasperation. "Why do they have to make these things so difficult?"
As he paced back and forth, his mind racing with ideas, he suddenly had a brain blast.
"Wait a minute," he said, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "I think I've got it! The answer is.. Destiny!"
Nova quickly put the scroll down back underneath the holder and his attention then went back to the purple light as he stared at the Relic in front of him, his mind racing with possibilities. He had just discovered that the Relic would grant him the powers to change destiny it self
Excited by this new knowledge, Nova stepped forward and spoke the word "destiny" with confidence. But to his surprise, nothing happened. The Relic remained silent and unmoving.
Frowning in confusion, Nova tried again, speaking the word with more emphasis this time. But once again, there was no response.
Puzzled, Nova began to think of other ways he could activate the Relic. He focused his mind on the concept of destiny, trying to channel his willpower into the object.
But as he touched the Relic, he felt a strange energy coursing through his body. It was as though the Relic was rejecting him, denying him the power he sought
After hours of trying, Nova sighed as he slumped down against the wall, frustration etched on his face. He had been trying for way too long to activate the Relic, but nothing seemed to work.
"Ugh, what's even the cause for getting a relic?!" he exclaimed in frustration, his voice echoing off the stone walls of the ancient temple. As the word "cause" left his lips, he noticed that the purple light emanating from the Relic began to dim.
But just as quickly as it had faded, the light returned to its original glow. Nova frowned, wondering if he had somehow triggered the Relic's power.
Nova then got up as he went over to the Relic again and he continued to experiment with the Relic, trying to understand how it worked. As he spoke the word "cause" again and again, he noticed that the purple light grew dim for a split second but it kept returning to it's original glow.
But it wasn't just the fading light that confused him. There was a nagging feeling in the back of his mind, a sense that something was missing.
"What am I doing wrong?" he muttered to himself, as the frustration returned, creeping into his voice.
He then thought of the word "cause" and then he had a brain blast. He tried different variations of the word, "causal", "causation", "cause and effect", but still the Relic remained dormant. The light grew dimmer still, until it was barely visible yet it still was there even if it was almost non existent, it was still there..
As Nova stood before the Relic, his mind was filled with doubts and insecurities. He had spent several more minutes trying to unlock its power, but nothing seemed to work. He started to feel hopeless, thinking that he wasn't strong enough to wield the relic and that he was unworthy of its power.
He then, sat down in front of the relic as tears started to well up in his eyes. He felt like he was a failure and all those thoughts about him being "different" were not true. "I'm just a damn.. worthless mundane.." He cried out.
It seemed like all hope was lost, but then a thought popped into his head. He had said every variation of the word "cause" except for one - "causality."
Taking a deep breath, Nova stood up and approached the relic. He closed his eyes and focused on the concept of causality, trying to understand the intricate ways in which cause and effect were intertwined. And then, he said the word "causality" with conviction.
As the word "Causality" left Nova's lips, he felt his mind being overwhelmed with memories, flashing before his eyes at an alarming speed. His body trembled as he relived the painful memories of losing his parents in the village fire, the feelings of fear and desperation flooding his mind once again. He let out a piercing scream, unable to bear the weight of the memories.
To be continued.
