Did He Just... Kiss Her?

"My lord, shall we take a break?" asked the coachmen as the young girl started to cry again stating she was hungry and did not want to have the packed food.

"Yes, please stop the carriage near an inn." He did not hesitate for a second when his princess demanded that she eat proper food and lay in a soft bed. He was holding her all the time in his arms to make sure that she was comfortable but even then she looked worn out.

"It had already been a day. It is normal for kids to feel uneasy sitting in the same position all day." said Cassey looking at the panicked look in his eyes even she was feeling sore all over.

"Momma, hold me." she raised her hands towards Cassey and looked at her with misty eyes when Casey picked up her daughter.

Tyrone felt empty instantly. As if he had lost a part of him. He glared at the woman who coild not let go of a single chance to wound him but she just frowned at his snide look.

The carriage was soon stopped and the footemen opened the door for them.

Finally Penny looked at ease when she took a breath in the open air again.

Though the inn was not a luxurious one as Tyrone wanted, it was a cozy place with a warm atmosphere. It was clean enough to not make him frown and the owner was friendly.

He instantly arranged three rooms for them but it was not.. Enough.

"I want one more room if possible." said Damien as he faced the cold look of his master but the owner shook his head.

"Due to the cold weather all of the rooms are filled. I have already allotted you my personal room too. I can not arrange more." he regretted when Dami felt that he was going to die.

He turned to look at his death and said in a low voice,

"How about I sleep in the carriage? It is warm and cozy too.i did not particularly need a room." he tried and then elbowed at the other knight who nodded his head at once but Tyrone just fumed.

He snatched one key from the hands of Damien with such force that the knight was afraid he was going to lose a finger.

He looked back at the woman who was sitting in front of the fireplace with their daughter snuggling in her arms. The bright light of the fire created a halo on her face and her features looked soft. Maybe it was a motherly smile on her face, but she looked so naive, so innocent that Tyrone felt himself staring at her for more than required.

This girl… her face was still the most precious memory of his life. If only she had not… his face hardened as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"We only have one room available." he said with gritted teeth when he saw her frowning as if she did not want to share a room with him.

"If you want, you can sit here all night." he leaned to take hold of their half asleep daughter who easily shifted her arms in her sleep. Her mouth was opened leaving drool on her cheeks. She looked adorable. His heart melted instantly.

"I would have but Penny would not be comfortable." said Cassey as she stood up when he raised a brow.

"Who said that she was going to stay with you?" ha! Delusional.

"Ha! Do you think you can take care of her? She needed to be taken to the washroom at least thrice or she would wet the bed. She is still only two years old. And she needed to drink water after that. She might even blabber in her sleep and look for me. If she did not feel comfortable, she would climb and sleep on me. If not, she would start crying. Do you think you can handle all this?" Her voice was full of challenges and for the first time in his life, he did not have the courage to accept it.

He gritted his teeth as he glared at the women. Even if he was sure to take care of her, he was not sure if his daughter would cry and demand for her mother.

"You are despicable." he muttered as he held Penny tightly and started walking when she scoffed.

"Saying the one who abandoned us but now you are suddenly back and think that we are the one who are at fault." she could not help but feel bitterness. If only he had apologized and hugged her, she would have forgiven him. But no! He was… taking a deep breath and she followed him.

He waited at the door and stared at her when she rolled her eyes. He could have opened the door. He used to open the door while holding her in his arms and kissing her but now he could not since he was holding their daughter. Tsk tsk!

She opened the door and lit the candles. There was a small sofa with a coffee table. Two chairs in the small balcony. A small study table and a bed.

"The room is small!" he exclaimed as he followed her and placed their daughter in the bed softly making sure that she was comfortable.

"It is larger than my house." she commented harshly when he frowned. It was a small room. Even the maids room in his palace was larger than this?

"Why did you choose to live in such a small place then? Were you afraid that you would attract attraction? What is the benefit of all that money then if you could not even spend it?" his voice dripped poison again when she felt herself fuming too.

"What do you mean? Do you think I had money? Do you think how hard it is to work with such a small child and no one to take care of her. If not for Jack… mmmppphhh!"
