The Family Of Three

"Daddy, where is mommy?" Penny looked at the empty seat of Cassey and frowned. "Mommy did not love Penny anymore." It has been days since she had spent a good time with her mother.

Every time she asks about Cassey, her father busy her with toys and foods and distract her. But today, she was not going to give in.

"I want to have breakfast with mommy." she repeated when Tyrone looked away.

He recalled how Cassey had left the room with tears in her eyes again. But he was still right. Cassey was praying again. The staff did not trust her, yet she was behaving so secretively. What if.. He shook his head at once.

"Your mother is tired. So she is resting. Why don't you try this fruit custard first and tell the chef, if you like it.

I will take the boiled vegetables back." he offered as he changed her plate but she only pouted.

"No! I do not want custard. I want my mommy or I will not eat." she turned her head away and wrapped her hands in front of her chest when Tyrone sighed.

He knew this was the way of her daughter to show her rebellion.

He asked for the maid standing in the corner and requested her to call Cassey.

The troublesome maid could only nod.

It was fifteen minutes later that Cassey joined them. She looked at Tyrone with accusing eyes but smiled at her daughter.

"Mommy, you are finally here." Penny jumped from her high seat and ran to the arms of her mother.

She kissed Cassey and pecked her cheeks again and again, showing her love and care.

Cassey smiled. Feeling energized, she hugged her daughter tightly.

"Mommy, where were you? Casey was missing you so much." she extended her hands to show a large gap when Cassey sighed.

"I know, honey! Mommy is bad to ignore you." she just did not have the strength to face Tyrone and meet his accusing eyes all the time.

The looks of the maids and cold glances of the knights exhaust her. But she knew this was not a perfect excuse to ignore her duties as a mother.

"No! Mommy is sick so she needed rest. But can we have breakfast together?" Penny looked so vulnerable and abandoned that Cassey's hands tightened around her.

She held her daughter and already started walking towards the dining table with a nod.

"Yes, and mommy will feed you." That was a luxury Penny enjoyed very much.

But her mother hardly pampers her enough to feed her. Most of the time, Cassey was strict to force Penny to feed by herself.

Cassey placed Penny on the high chair again and sat beside her. She took the porridge and boiled vegetables and started feeding Penny when Penny looked at the bowl of custard with longing eyes.

"Mommy, father had bought custard for me. Shall we eat it?" She did not like carrots. The boiled carrots were tasteless and so was the broccoli. She did not want to eat it.

"Hmm, you can have a spoonful after finishing vegetables.'' With that, Cassey filled Penny's mouth with another spoon when the child looked troubled.

She looked around and saw Tyrone playing with the food but not eating it. Her eyes sparkled instantly.

"Mommy, daddy was missing you too. Hurry up, and feed him some vegetables too. Look, he has not eaten anything and he looks so pitiful." she held the spoon from the other end and tried to direct it towards Tyrone who blinked.

Cassey instinctively looked at Tyrone with her hands still in the air.

He sat calmly at the dining table, his handsome face radiating an aura of indifference as if he had not noticed her until Penny called for him.

She was not sure if she should feed him. He had cleared it so many times that he was only bearing her because of their daughter.

Just when she was going to take her hands away, Penny tugged them.

"You do not want to starve daddy, do you? Or you two are having a fight?" Her pair of crystal-clear eyes sparkled like stars.

They were filled with anticipation that was hard to ignore. Cassey sighed! Why should she be the bad one, if Tyrone did not want to eat, he should be the one to refuse.

With that thought, she raised her hands again and directed the food towards Tyrone.

She was waiting for him to turn his head away or refuse. She was even sure that he would use the excuse that he did not like the vegetables.

But to her surprise, the calm face turned to look at Penny and smiled before opening his mouth wide enough to be fed!

"......" she stared at his face again. He was so calm that she did not know what was going through his mind.

"What are you waiting for, mommy?" feeling the nudge again, she did not have any choice but to feed the food to Tyrone.

He chewed the vegetables slowly and lowered his head to continue his eating when Penny tugged him this time.

"This is not fair, daddy! Since mommy have fed you, you should feed her too."

Cassey blinked. There was a time when he had fed her too but it was such a long time ago that it was already a distant memory. She did not expect him to do it now.

"No need! I will eat myself." she refused but in the next second, a spoonful of spinach was waiting for her in front of her lips.

He knew that she didn't like spinach! Was he trying to feed her to take revenge on her?

"Open your mouth, mommy. What are you waiting for?" the sweet voice of her daughter filled her ears and she took a deep breath.
