"What?" I asked the servant to repeat himself

The prince ran away last night your majesty."

I had heard him just fine the first time he said it. I just couldn't believe what I'd heard. There was no way.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion." What do you mean he ran away? "

What were the guards in his wing doing at the time? You're telling me not one guard saw him as he ran away?" I found myself slowly raising my voice.

The servant flinched in fear. "I'm not sure how it happened your Majesty."

After the last time he'd run away from the palace I increased the number of guards in his wing of the palace so he wouldn't be able to easily escape. Yet he had somehow evaded them. How was that possible?

"When did you find out he's missing?" I further inquired.

"This morning when his servants went to his room to prepare him for the day."
