A Wife's freedom

Laika's POV

I was still in shock we still couldn't believe what we heard. The Emperor just said we could get a divorce.

Once a woman was married that was that, she couldn't leave no matter what happened. Unless he divorced you himself you had to stick with him no matter what, even if he verbally and physically abused you you just had to. But the fact that we were possibly now able to divorce the General and on top of that receive alimony from him was surreal.

"We need to talk to the Emperor," I said to the Maris and Samira. Clearly, His Majesty told us this new law during his judgment so the three of us could be aware of it. The announcement was directed toward us. I wanted to speak with His Majesty to get the full details of what this law entailed and what we could expect from it.

"Yes, we should," Maris agreed with me and Samira nodded.

I turned to look at Ayan who stood with us and gave her the Can we talk to your man? look.
