Fun of the moon festival (1)

Hearing those words, which flowed smoothly like a cooing demon's murmur, Ophelia immediately understood why Rhaziel had advised her and Nikolai to keep their distance until after midnight. Both his emotions and his demon state were being affected by the moon.

She glanced at him, displaying no signs of anxiety. "Nikolai,"

He blinked and raised his eyebrows in a mild gesture of astonishment before saying, "I'm sorry." and his face became utterly somber.

"Understandable." Ophelia nodded slowly and feigned a smile as he took a small step away from her.

Nikolai sighed, rubbing his neck and his eyes returned to their blazing crimson state. "I should leave,"

Ophelia took a step forward as her eyes landed on the snake tattoo. "No. We should stay together."

"What if I hurt you?" Nikolai questioned, staring at her attentively.

She remained silent. His lips twitched.
