Dena had a good night's sleep and snuggled up in the heat nearby.
"Awake? You hugged me so tight last night that I couldn't sleep."
Dena opened her eyes to the smiling face of Noah. She jumped out of bed.
"What are you doing in bed with me?"
"Isn't it because someone began to cry and beg me to stay with them?"
Dena didn't remember something like that, but she wouldn't put past herself not to be this shameless and do it.
Her eyes and face reddened. She tried to switch topics.
" Are you hungry? Let's go to the cafeteria."
She got up and ran into the restroom.
Noah chuckled. His phone rang, and after answering, his demeanour changed to cold, and with suspicious eyes looked at the bathroom.
He thought yesterday's attack was just a coincidence. But with this information, even he was ready to remove this time bomb.
" Who was last night?"
He laughed at the reply. How did this insane family get off the radar? What's weird is that he didn't detect any signs of being a werewolf in the boy. He should wait until he's thoroughly investigated. He might have a wolf as his pet. He smirked at that thought.
Dena was so embarrassed. She was an adult, not a child in need of cuddling. On the bright side, that witch couldn't have murdered her last night. Perhaps meeting Noah was a good thing, as in the book, he might change her life. She's got to stick to him the whole time. Sure, she had no clue how to do it! In her previous life, she had terrible social skills. She had no close friends nor any passing friends. She was a shut-in. She hoped that with this opportunity, she would become someone different; above all, this handsome boy was something else. She grabbed the hem of her shirt.
'Oh, look at his abdominal muscles! Yes, what smooth skin is this.'
Her gaze lowered slowly. She pulled down the pants a little. Before, she didn't take a good look at it. 'Oh my god, that's why he's top! I think I have a nosebleed!'
She turned around and looked in the mirror. 'check his ass, wow!!' She was afraid that she would turn into a pervert. She quickly tidied up.
Dena washed up and opened the door shyly, and peeped outside. The room was empty. She sighed with relief and sought Edwin's mobile phone. Yesterday, she was so scared she shut down the phone. Now that the crisis was gone, she looked for Edwin's friend and secretary in the book. She was the only person loyal to the male lead through each regression.
She wondered why she had not seen her up to this point. Her name was Dianna, but no such person was on the contact lists.
Dena was frustrated and started banging the pillow while mumbling, "What's the point of knowing the plot when everything did a 180-degree turn? "
This was what Noah saw when he came back with breakfast. 'Why is he such a cutie? 'He thought.
"Didn't you tell me you were hungry? Come on, let's eat."
Dena jerked abruptly.' Is he some ghost? When did he get in here? '
Dena was starving and bounced on her feet to grab the package from Noah's hand, But she used too much force and lost control of stepping straight into Noah's chest.
"I didn't know you were rushing to hug me."
Noah laughed while holding Edwin in his arms.
Dena wished to find a hole in the ground and disappear. Why was she such a clumsy woman? She wasn't used to this body yet?
The door opened, and Kathy barged into the room to see her son with a red face in the arms of another boy.
In anger, she gnashed her teeth and snatched her son away by pinching his ear.
"You stinky boy, you run off to your lover and forget your family? And what are you doing in a hospital? A date? "
" Mum, what are you talking about? I passed out and was taken to the hospital by my friend. "
Dena thought this was the worst. She was plotting how to hug this big thigh, but now Edwin's mother labelled Noah, his boyfriend, and that 100 per cent would scare him away.
Kathy checked this kid from the top down. He was an average-looking guy with brown hair and big glasses. His clothes looked cheap but were neat and clean. There wasn't anything special about him, but her intuition told her there was more in him than he showed.
After relieving his luxury car and bodyguards to Edwin, Noah lost his facade. He was unwilling to act in front of him. But as soon as he saw the woman, he changed his attitude again. In a quiet and shy voice, he greeted her. " Hello, Auntie."
Dena did her best to avoid laughing at him. She had read about How Noah played everybody with his white lotus image, but seeing it firsthand was something else.
Kathy nodded her head, smiling. "Thanks for bringing my son to the hospital. Would you please give us a minute to speak to my son alone?
Noah looked at Edwin with a questioning look and, having received assurances from him, left the room.
Kathy saw all their interactions and was surprised. She turned around and told her son.
" You could drop the act now."
Dena panicked inside, trying not to reveal anything, pinching her arm to show a dark look. 'Think about sad things; think about how much money you lost.'
Kathy was relieved to see Edwin back to normal. She doubted he was her son when she entered the room. Dena was sweating from the staring eyes of Edwin's mom.
"When I heard you were in the hospital, I thought you would see your brother. I was pretty happy. You know how little your dad cares. Now it's just Rojina in his eyes. Edwin, I know you didn't want to hurt your brother and felt guilty, but running away will solve nothing. Why don't you visit your brother with your friend? "
" Enough; if you think I am innocent, why do you always bring him before me? Just say you resent me, that you hate me. Why do you like torturing me?"
Dena unknowingly screamed at her. Her emotional state was out of control. Her breath was rapid.
Dena remembered in the novel; Mason couldn't tolerate people mentioning his involvement in his brother's state. 'So why am I so worked up about it? I am not him.'
Kathy was terrified. She did not expect her little talk to stimulate him as much. Her hands were shaking. For the first time, she was genuinely afraid of Edwin. She kept walking away from him.
Noah was waiting outside when he overheard Edwin's voice. Without thinking, He rushed in. The sight of Edwin's red face and bulging veins made him cautious. He hugged the guy. His woody scent and warmth have calmed Dena.
"Shsh... I'm here. Deep breathing."
Noah stroked his back and tried to calm him down. He couldn't figure out why he cared about this guy. He glanced curiously at the woman. Kathy felt remorse, turned around, and promptly left the room.
Dena's vision got blurry, and tears fell. Noah was taken aback. His crying face and red eyes stirred something inside him. He had this urge to protect this boy. Both of them had no one to rely on.
After a while, Dena went back to normal. She decided to face Edwin's demons. She'd better see his brother. Dena didn't want to go through this thing anytime soon. She looked up and told Noah.
" Can you come with me to another room?"
Noah guessed what he had in mind.
After washing her face, Dena went to the front desk to find Kaveh's room number. Noah placed his hand on his face helplessly. 'He even didn't know where his brother was!!!'
Outside the room, Dena realised suddenly that this body had hurt Kaveh. Now, she was a part of the offender. She had trembling hands. She closed her eyes and opened the door very slowly. In the middle of the room, a fragile boy was lying with numerous pieces of equipment connected to him. The bleep on the intubated machine was the only sound. Dena knew he would wake up in about two months, but the burden was too much for her. Her feet buckled under her. Noah watched Edwin like a hawk and wrapped both arms around his waist to stabilise him.
" Thanks. I want a moment alone with him. Can I?"
Noah was worried and wanted to stay, but he saw the sadness in his eyes, so he compromised and went out.
Dena sat down on the bed and took Kaveh's bony hand. Her voice broke, and she cried.
"I am truly sorry; I promise to protect you in his place."
