Chapter 34

In the room, Noah found Kaveh awake, staring through the window. His eyes were red while the air around him was dark.

"How come you're up so early? Is there any discomfort? Shall I get a doctor to examine you?"

Noah sat on the chair by the bed as he said.

Kaveh shook his head," No, I had a bad dream. Anytime I close my eyes, the scenes I dread most appear. Especially if I am alone, it would be worse. Thank you for caring, but I don't want to take sleeping pills. I am scared to lose control of my body."

" What was it? Does this have anything to do with your incident?"

Noah questioned him with frowning on his face. Kaveh's value was unimaginable. He should find out sooner rather than later why he's having trouble sleeping. If he fell out with Edwin over that incident, protecting him from others with ulterior motives would be hard.

" Ha? What incident?" Kaveh's mind still was on his dream. He didn't understand Noah's meaning.

" The one that made you be here for a year?"

"No, not at all. It was about something else." Kaveh smiled, denying it. With all his misery after that, Edwin's attack in the shape of a wolf was the most tolerable of them.

"Kaveh, if you had a hard time, you could count on me and your brother. We will be there for you at all times."

Noah said, taking his hand into his.

The warmth of Noah's hand took the edge off the pain in Kaveh's heart. This time, the nightmare revolved around the death of Edwin and Jack. He was kept hidden in the basement in fear of those crazy pursuers. Every day Jack would visit him with a lot of gifts. But that day, when the door opened, his sister was there instead of Jack. He puzzledly followed his sister outside. The smell of blood hit him on the face before seeing the gruesome sight In front of the house. The indifferent faces of his sister and father were more shocking than seeing the bodies of those Edwin and Jack on the ground. He couldn't live with the fact that they killed Edwin without one ounce of emotion. His blood turned cold remembering that scene. He was an ignorant and naive boy to believe in their nonsense in his previous life.

Noah watched the look of Kaveh become less expressive. He was familiar with this look and saw it countless times in the people who lost all hope in humanity. He held his hand tighter to bring Kaveh back from his depressive state. 'He appears to be in worse shape than I thought.'

" Oh, do you like online gaming?"

"What?" Kaveh stared at him in confusion.

" My friend's company will host one in the capital next month. If you're up for it, we can all go. I'm sure until that time. You will be able to walk with crutches. Even if you can't, we'll have no problem taking you in the wheelchair. Edwin was under too much stress recently. It would be best if he could have the chance to catch his breath."

Noah used his big brother to bring him along. By speaking to him today, he was sure something was going on with his family that Edwin didn't know about. How does a 14-year-old kid get that look? His resistance to his family should be related to that too.

He ought to hurry up and figure out a way to hide Kaveh.

"OK, I'm looking forward to it." Kaveh agreed. ' a trip with his older brother! Furthermore, he will be lucky enough to find more allies there.'

Kaveh suddenly recalled a letter he had written previously. He originally intended for Edwin to meet that clan. He was sure they would willingly join Edwin's pack at first glance. Yet the beggar couldn't be a chooser. Edwin's mate was a scary person. He preferred not to be involved with him. Let sleeping dogs lie.

"Noah, would you do me a favour? Remember I spoke with Edwin about debt and a letter? When Radin showed up, he couldn't deliver it. Is it all right for you to do that for me?"

Noah wanted to turn him down, but sending Edwin to an unknown location would be more dangerous. " yeah, sure. Give it to me."

Noah stood up after taking the letter and walked out of the bedroom.

"I shall do everything to make you happy."

Noah opened the door and watched Jack say that.

'Jesus, what the hell? Edwin, did you ditch my brother this soon?'

Dena also was surprised by Jack's words and spat out her tea. 'What's the matter with this guy?'

They talked about Kaveh's transfer, and Jack promised to assist them. Then she started talking to her wolf in her mind, debating whether Kaveh meeting Jack now was a good idea or not. According to the book, Kaveh liked Jack and didn't side with his brother. However, her wolf told her it was better not to stimulate Kaveh today after his encounter with Ryu. There would be plenty of time for their reunion.

So She didn't get what Jack said after that. ' Did I nod to something he asked for unknowingly?'

Noah was eager to question Edwin on the matter, but that would reveal the involvement of his older brother.

He inhaled to cool off and said. " Edwin, what is going on?"

"Nothing, I just asked Jack for help, and he said yes," Dena said, her voice trembling. 'Please, Noah, don't tell your brother, or I'll be done.' she prayed in her mind.

" oh, Edwin promised to be my boyfriend as well." Jack continued the conversation by dropping this bomb.

" What?"

" What? When did I do that?"

Two shrill voices resounded in the room.

"When I asked you, you nodded at me."

Jack clarified for Edwin.

"Edwin, are you out of your mind?" Noah yelled at him. Dena was racking her head to recall something like that but was too immersed in her chat with her wolf. She believed it would be possible for her to do that.

Jack was enjoying their shocked behaviour. He didn't like the dazed face of Edwin.

He did not know why, but he preferred to bring other feelings to his face than to see him depressed. Before Noah opened the door, the room was too quiet. He could hear what they were talking about in the bedroom.

He made those comments on purpose. At first, he was glad that Edwin was asking for a favour. However, the talk between Noah and Kaveh reminded him that the distance between him and Edwin was vast compared to Noah and him. It would be great if he could put a little dispute in their relationship. Jack leaned back on his chair, smirking, sipping his tea.
