Chapter 40

The tension between the two people in the room was so thick that a knife couldn't cut through it. Noah was on guard against the woman. He was thinking about countermeasures he had prepared before entering this area. He had notified his secretary about his whereabouts. And put some bodyguards in the skirt of the hill. He didn't come alone because he was sure no ordinary people would live in this isolated land.

However, if he showed up with those bulky armed men, it would seem ominous. They would assume that they were vicious thugs coming up to threaten them. Noah was sure with his agility and quick reflexes, he could escape from this place effortlessly.

All of the changes in the boy's temperament caught Annya's attention. From a docile and easygoing person to a sharp and alert one in response to her offensive speech.

" It is a courtesy to thank a delivery man first, then start to demand answers from him,"

Noah said to the woman with disdain.

He didn't like the aggressive behaviour of the woman one bit. Yet, she didn't respond to him. Noah thought that he had done what Kaveh had asked him and it was best to head back instead of arguing with this woman.

" I don't care who you are, and I am doing a favour to my friend. What is in the letter is not my business. He would never send me here if he thought you were dangerous. Please don't waste my time. I will see myself out." Noah stood up with a cold and stern face.

Annya raised her eyebrows. She put her last suspicion aside with ease. The letter stated that they should seek help from the boy who delivered the letter. Annya wanted to check his attitude towards the writer, not to lose their clue to that person. She softened her facial expression.

" I apologise for my rude behaviour. We are in the middle of nowhere; suddenly, a boy comes with a strange letter about our clan being in danger. Even if it were merely a joke, I wouldn't find it funny. So, I lost my temper."

While Annya explained herself to Noah,

From the corner of her eye, she saw a green flag raised in the wall of the house. It showed the first evacuation was successful. That meant that vulnerable people were safe. All others who stayed within this area at least were trained fighters. She could start her next plan.

"If you have this much trust in him, you don't mind staying with us a little more, Do you? As you can see, we are women and children. Our men and husbands went to working other cities. Your letter mentioned that our enemies had found out about our place. Usually, we are not fond of strangers. We don't have a good relationship with the locals here. So our people are uneasy. We hope you can help us move away from here."

Annya said to Noah with concern visible on her face.

Noah, deep down, was a soft heart person. The first strange thing he noticed was he couldn't spot a single male there. He wasn't against giving them a helping hand.

" My friend addresses you as a person that he is indebted to. Instead of him, I will assist you." Noah promised her after discerning her distress about her people.

Annya suddenly smiled and offered him a cup of tea. " Thank you. My name is Annya Robahan. I am the chief village."

Noah took the cup, saying. " Noah Gashtasb. I am a first-year high schooler." Annya was stunned by his age. ' he is around 15-16 years old?' she assumed he was older and had a baby face.

" I presume you didn't come here alone. We need strong men to carry our belonging."

" No problem."

Noah replied nonchalantly. He picked up his communication device and summoned his bodyguards to the entrance.

" I don't think they could find our location. You should go yourself." Annya saying that, beckoned someone to come in.

A girl around his age entered the room. She was tall with a slim figure, and her straight black hair was tied up in a ponytail, causing Her slender neck to be more prominent. Her almond shape eyes and her lush and full lips highlighted more her beauty. She wore a black leather-tight, close-fitting jumpsuit that showed her curvy body. She was holding a helmet in her arms. Everything about her screamed wild and sexy. Noah's attention was on this new girl when he heard Annya's voice.

" This is my daughter, Juno; she will bring you back to the downhill."

Noah's throat went dry the moment he saw Juno. He was able merely to nod.

Juno also examined the boy. He was of average height, with soft brown hair, plain blue eyes and big-frame glasses. The boy was your average Joe. In a crowd, he would blend in the background, and you wouldn't even notice him.

After tossing and turning for some time to track down here, his clothes were full of stains and wrinkles, but if you looked closely, you would notice their quality was on par with most luxurious ones out there. Juno narrowed her eyes. This boy, from head to foot, screamed dangerous low-key rich.

She stretched her hand, saying;

" Hello, I am Juno."

Noah shook her hand. " Noah, glad to see you."

Juno nodded. " Let's go." she threw the helmet at Noah and went outside.

Annya saw the look of puzzlement on the boy.

"She has a mountain motorcycle. Don't worry; she is very skilled."

She said with a proud look in her eyes.

"Oh!" Noah was excited inside. He always enjoyed the thrill of extreme sports. But his outer face didn't show it. He was an actor before. He usually masked the genuine emotion on his face.

He followed Juno outside of the house. Juno stood beside a motorcycle in black and red colour. Noah had read about this motorcycle before. It had an exciting 1,043 cc in-line four engine, long-travel suspension and sporty wheels with an upright riding position. It was super cool and hot. Noah put on the helmet and jumped on the motorcycle along with Juno. It was the best ride of Noah's life. Being in the Gashtasb family, he was forced by the rules to abandon most of his likes and hobbies.

Moreover, in his previous life, Noah couldn't afford to have this type of expensive vehicle in his teenage days. And then he was a public figure. It wasn't acceptable for him to enjoy this extreme sport.

Juno felt the vibration of Noah's laughter. At first, she thought he was shaking from nervousness, but his relaxed muscle and posture proved otherwise. Juno had never met someone this strange. It was visible that the boy was around her age. So, how powerful was his mindset that he could enter an unknown territory by himself without any weapon and still enjoy the ride?

She got her answer when they arrived at the foot of the mountain. Those men in camouflage attire were too eye-catching.

Noah hopped off the motorcycle and instructed them with simple words. The attitude of those men displayed how Noah was not only their client but also their real boss. They had faith in his abilities.

Juno's true purpose in escorting Noah was to estimate the power of the people he brought out.

It was a tricky situation. The clan shaman was in a cave meditating when Noah appeared. If she were available, she would tell them about the true nature of this boy. And if they could trust him. But now they were in a pinch.

Anyway, her mother decided to take the risk and follow Noah with their special force. Juno's priority was to obey her mother's orders.

Noah remained on the skirt of the mountain while others went up. His phone finally had signals. However, there was no text or missed calls from Kaveh and Edwin.

" Kaveh? Really? You sent me to the middle of nowhere, and you never worry about me? You are indeed heartless."

Noah complained about Kaveh with a half smile on his face. He wasn't irate, just a little disappointed. Noah knew that boy was covered in thorns. He would never let others get close to him. Noah sighed in exasperation, calling Kaveh. But it never connected after many beeps. Noah switched to Edwin's number. Still no response. He felt uneasy. It was again this feeling that something was amiss. Noah tried to call his brother. He told him about his absence before leaving the hospital. Yet, no one answered. Noah's hands shook. There was unbearable anxiety growing in him with every passing second. A sharp pain broke out in his head. Noah got hold of his temporal with both hands. Distorted visions appeared in his head. In a luxury living room with dim light, A tv news presenter was reporting about a landscape in a rural area, and the faces of casualties were showing on the screen. Suddenly, A hand trembled, and a photo frame fell on the ground. The glass shattered, but still, the picture of the two men was visible, smiling and leaning toward each other intimately. Noah's pupils quivered. He recognised one of them. It was the past him. The pain intensified before he could grasp the fleeting memory. He kneeled on the ground, gasping for air.
