**Piper**
I burst into our quarters, out of breath and panting. I shoved the door shut and leaned against it. My sisters stared at me with varying expressions of worry, fear, and accusation. Peyton opened her mouth to speak, but I held my hand up to silence her. Taking several gulps of air, I focused on calming my breaths and my racing heart.
"What have you done now, Piper?" Sophie stood behind the couch, arms crossed.
"Nothing." I swallowed all the angry retorts I wanted to hurl at her for yet again assuming I'd been the one to mess up. "I apologized, exactly like I said I would." I pushed away from the door and moved farther into the room. "Prince Gregory was very gracious in accepting my apology, too, and then we had a pleasant talk."
"Then why do you look like you just ran a marathon to get back here?" Peyton asked, head tilted as she studied me. "And why are you so afraid right now?"
